A L, I met Jesus Christ when I was 18 and ready to commit suicide. Through some different things I got to know Him and He is so important to me. It becomes different when you know God and don't just "go to church". When I got to actually know Jesus it made it all become real to me. It all bored me before I knew God for myself. It just seemed like boring, moral lectures and blah, blah, blah.
I've known Jesus for 37 years (yes I'm reallllly old now!!!). He is still so awesome and cool. He never bores me. I can't imagine a life without Jesus in it. He helps me with my problems, loves me, teaches me stuff, explains things to me that bother me. He helps me get along with my family when they make me crazy. Knowing Jesus is not about rituals and reading prayers from a book - It can be a real relationship with someone who cares about you and understands things that you don't.
It isn't about what you are called - Catholic or Protestant or Atheist. Its all about God who is there and loves you. You can talk to God when you are alone in your room or outside. He will tell you things in your thoughts and will always be there for you. He even helped me read the Bible and make sense of it. If you will talk to Jesus Christ (which is all prayer is) He will talk to you, too!
I will talk to God for you, today. I'll ask Him to help you work out this spiritual stuff. He's cool that way and He's gonna help you. Have a Great New Year, A L!

If going to church is boring to you, it's because you are not being fed spiritually.
If you are not being fed spiritually, it's because there is no real searching of the Scriptures.
You want to make things interesting? Ask God to help you find others in the church of your age who feel the same way. Ask your Mom if they can come to your place for lunch. If she says yes - you, and whomever comes to lunch, can talk about why you feel the way you do. I bet you anything, you'll have some discussion that requires you to open your Bibles to investigate.
Guess what - you've just started a Bible study group !!! And believe me, it won't be boring.

fortunately im also 16, so i can answer that easily....look, the average christian goes to church like once a bleedin month...so you can call yourself christian as long as you believe there was a man named Jesus Christ who was the son of god...however, if your having a spiritual epiphany, then PLEASE, stop, look around and find out a lot about religions before becoming christian. hell, you could become hindu or summat, or even atheist (NO MORAL RETRIBUTION)...however, you may just settle down as an agnostic...whatever you do, dont listen to SweetPea, she sounds like a hardcore bible-basher...anyway good luck with your spiritual epiphany...personally, as an atheist i find it my duty to make sure that there is no pressure on anyone about any religion...and having lived in africa most of my life i have witnessed pretty much every religion...anyway, good luck...

Find a different church. Many are adding activities/services that are exciting and at the very least, it's another place to meet people your own age.

Most Christians that became atheists stopped believing in god because of the inconsistency and irrationality of its belief. Your only problem is that you just don't want to go to church.
Don't worry. You're not yet an atheist. You're just one lazy kid who don't want to go to church.

Dear u question is very very difficult to answer at least to me because I'm Muslim as a Muslim we believe in fol:
1 God is one and absolute Allah is His name (Jesus is not our lord nor Savior nor it is in entire bible )
2 HE is eternal and everlasting (humans beings do have beginning and end )
3 He begets not nor He is born (Jesus was son of Mary)
4 Nothing can compare unto Him.
U urself is proof that God (Allah) exists, if no than pl explain how such a beautiful organised earth and stars so fashioned came into existence out of big bang (out of chaos) more so how the single cellular protozoa turned into complex vertebrates and eventually in to humans, of course ur answer would be out of monkeys(as per Darwin theory) than my question is why still we have monkeys? which is off course not true therefore there is some power which is called Allah(God),Who created every thing in perfect fashion. If u r interested in knowing further who is God , for what He has created u ,me and prophets including MOSES JESUS AND MOHAMMED(peace and blessings of God upon them all) than pl read Quran the last testament of God revealed to last and finale messenger Prophet Muhammed (pbuh)
Try to find true God ,in this way u will be satisfied.

If you find it boring, so boring you want to doze off, etc etc.
It shows you're not interested in any of it.
It is one of those sure signs - you can't be there --- and explains why people stay away in droves --- for exactly the same reason.
I think you should gather a lot of knowledge, and go where you find things interesting for you...
To engage in positive productive pursuits - and stay away from anything that has bad or negative overtones, etc etc.

the real church is in our hearts. if u r not going to church doesn't means that u r becoming an ATHEIST. i can understand that why u feel going to church is boring. but look at others that wat they do. they r truthful or not, wat's going right or wrong. just go to church becouse of ur mother , just look at the fath of ur mother, becose ur mother is mother marry. don't think that u r going to church , just think that u r going somwhere with ur MOM.

Hey,
Have you read the Gospels.
What does Jesus say?
Is it about praising Jesus and calling Jesus Jesus all the time.
I think Jesus asks you to follow what he said
i.e. sin no more and do good.
So just do good to others and you are a believer.
Praising God , Jesus, Yahweh, Allah etc. is meaningless if deeds are wrong.
Think.

For just a moment, forget about whether or not you go to church.
- Do you believe god or a higher power exists? If you do, you are not an Atheist. An Atheist does not believe in a higher power.
- Do you believe Jesus died for your sins and is a savior for the world? If you do, then you are a christian. If you do not, you are not a christian.
Back to the church thing. If you believe in a higher power and you believe in Jesus, then maybe you can find a different church with a different style of worship. Many churches have non-traditional services or music-oriented services that may be more interesting and engaging for you. These churches typically have more young people as well.
If you do not believe in a higher power and you do not believe in Jesus, then you might try the Unitarian Universalist church. They are a community of very diverse people, who gather to do good and work together (www.uua.org). You do not have to believe anything specific to belong to a UU congregation.
Good luck in your quest.
