My dog is a male border collie kelpie cross and is 1 year old. He is very lively and excitable. He gets regular walks and play times during the day. We live on farm so he has miles to run. During the day we let him outside into his enclosed compound with resonably high walls, but as soon as you open the back door to let him out, he is gone! The main attraction we think is the neighbour's female black lab. He shoots round there whenever he gets the chance. We are finding it incredibly annoying. He won't come back to you, even when he has direct eye contact with you and you call his name or shout 'football' or 'frisbee' or 'biscuit'. He is terrible. We have tried to put wooden posts around the compound to stop him escaping but he broke them and we try everything without making it look like a prison!
PLEASE HELP!

Hopefully he is neutered, if not start there, then obed train the dog so he will come when called and housetrain him so he can be a member of the family. Why would he want to stay in prison when a more friendly playful pal is around the corner?

Just put a leash on him. BUT if you are VERY DESPERATE you can get a specialized collar called, "CROWN COLLAR" its a bit harsh but it should work. the way it works is if the dog tries to escape from a certain distance, the leash will tug and the collar will pinch the dog (kinda sad) giving it the sensation of being bit. It looks like a normal metal collar but it has little sticks poking on the INSIDE to pinch the dog.

Use an electric fence designed especially for dogs.
