I did a little research on the beliefs of Muhammad and the teachings of Jesus Christ, and both were quite similar. Could they be talking of the same loving God? Most people who are quick to judge Islam are not well knowledged in that category anyway. If we misjudge Islam, could we also be misjudging the Bible?

This is nice to see that some people really take this subject sincerely.
However, some clear doctrine have been derived by Christians from bible very clearly.

Irrespective of whether God is loving or Jealous. Merciful or vengeful. We muslim can't accept belief in trinity. Trinity has clearly been condemn and denied in The Holy Quran. The idea of "begotten son of God" can't be accepted if you give even a little credit to Quran. I firmly believe that. Not language but addition of pauline doctrine have blocked the spread of true bible.

You should do a little more research gravitypunch:-)
Islam opposes God and the Bible teachings. If you see a well disguised lie lying next to the truth, how could tell the difference if you were not truly born again by the water and the Spirit?
First ask yourself this question, who compiled the Koran? was he a born again, Spirit filled man of God or a sinner who despises the God of the Bible? Is Mohamed's grave empty or was he like Jesus risen from the dead?
Was the Koran written under the influence of the Holy Spirit, like the Holy Bible? Does Islam recognise the world accepted era of B.C and A.D (Before Christ and The Year of our Lord).
Once you can answer these Q's and have become truly Born again by the true gospel (incidentally the true gospel is the One Jesus gave us of the water and the Spirit John 3:5), you will see quite clearly that there is no misjudging here, it's black or white, one is from Hell and the other from Heaven.

Here is another thing. The Bible is not a book of science or of human effort, but a book of salvation by faith in God.
On the other hand, the Koran and all the others like Buddhism etc, are sinful man-made standing directly opposed to God and the God of the Bible, and is all filled with human effort. That is why they do what they do defending the Koran, with human efforts. Man, if their gospel was true, why could there God not be able to fight for himself....if you uncover the 'thing' they are trying to cover up you will find stinking dead bones.

You see Islam starts off with the same God of Abraham, who was accounted by God for righteousness for his unquestionable faith in God. Remember he had a son with an Arab maid servant, because both he and his wife Sarah could not wait for God promise to be fulfilled. A son was born but not of his own lions and blood line, and his name was Ishmael. When God eventually gave them a son he was called Isaac, which means God's fulfilled promise.
So in time these 2 boys grew up, but Ishmael always wanted to do his half brother in, something inside of him made him do this (much what we experience today), So the Bible tells us that both he and his mother were banished from Abraham's camp. So we see Ishmael was the start of the Arab nation and later, someone stood in direct opposition to God and started the Islam faith.
This tells us that we must not tolerate false faiths in our midst but cut it off immediately, otherwise it will grow up and eventually smother us like weeds.
Note this: If we don't stand for something we are apt to fall for anything...or capitulate to the devil.

I would very much like for you to receive a Free Christian Book...all you need to do is ask then you will receive :-)

i think it isvery possible that things such as language barriers, illiteracy, and time could be a reason that we may want to consider that we don't all have it quite right.
i do not say i am right, your g-d is a fake, blah, blah.....
it is not in my nature to do so.
there a a bevy of reasons that we probably have some of it right, and some of it may be a wee off kilter. that is not to say that what we do "get" is wrong. as a matter of fact, for the most part i think we have the basic outline. the things that are important.
as i have stated before, i am not the one to judge. i will share my ideas and beleifs and let G_d do the rest.
I hope in the larger plan we all get enough of it right.
So Bless You All.

Humans have a way to work around the language barrier
either by using intellectuals or actions. Hence I do not believe
language was a barrier in mis-communication at a high level.

People are ignorant when it comes to religion and judge very
quickly, specially now-a-days with Islam. I do not see anything
wrong with either Jesus or Mohammad or Moses or their
word to spread the religion. It is the people who have made it
up to say "Mine is better than yours" or completely misjudged.
For centuries, Islam is misinterpreted since 11th and 12th
century, when Christianity was at rage with all other religions.

Unfortunately, even in the 21st century when countries want
to say they are "democratic", ponder upon the same old days
as in 11th and 12th century.....The only difference between
the 11/12th century and now is, the Church had declared war
against Islam and now it is done with scaring people with
Nuclear weapons, WMDs, war-machine.....

People need to realize what is the truth by educating
themselves and read the right material and not coming to
judgment just because some idiot said so.

The truth is that Jesus is God.

Islam rejects this truth. Therefore, Islam has a different and fake "god".

No. Scriptures like the gnostic gospels were rejected and replaced with the o.t. Is it not crystal clear that yhwh knows nothing about love, righteousness, or forgiveness?

a belief system should not be judged on what its followers say, but on what they do.

if you want to know what a quarterpounder cheeseburger tastes like do you read the advertising literature (the koran) or go to the drive-by and eat one (visit an islamic country)?

of course, i can understand why you might stick to the advertising literature if the guys who flip at the drive-by are all wearing allah-vests.

Or is it possible that since Muhammed lived 500 years after Jesus Christ, he heard the teachings of Jesus Christ from the writings of the Apostles and decided to copy them, adding his own twist in order to justify those little points of disagreement because of his hatred for the Hebrew people. I just thought of this. I like to ponder on things also. What is your take on this?

Great question. If the Language barrier is what blocked the true word, then we have to ask, who created language? Did he kind of trip Himself up here?

Insightful question. Misunderstandings arise perhaps not because of the language that the tongue speaks, rather because of the language of the heart. If we seek truth, light, we recognize it no matter in which lamp it shines. If we are blind, we won't see the light no matter what the lamp, even the one we call our own. The light of truth is not confined only to the lamp of Muhammad or Christ, and misunderstanding is not limited to only Islam and Christianity.
