Needs are limited but desires are unlimited. if one really know the difference between needs and desires he or she will be the happiest and the richest person of the world.
Today the problem starts with most of the people failing to understand their true needs and aim only for that. Desires turn into greed for most of the people. Today we have a situation where a medical Surgeon Doctor who has spent millions of dollars on his education stealing innocent pateint's kidneys for just $4000/-. What is the use of the

the education he has acquired for more than 20 years of his life. This is an extreme situation where a desires have turned into greed. Also men are now forced to act with

selfish motives. Very few matured persons escape the devilish situation to act in greedy. The western phenomena of "Survival of the fittest" is being propagated to all over

the world now. And due to that many past renowned civilisations are getting influenced by this greedy phenomenon. Religion means the path of life. Although all world religions are preaching good things, men has been made to ignore this. Hence he has been forced to forget the real purpose of this life which is going to end for all of us 100%. In this process his desires and needs are mixed up and finally end up in acting with greed, jealousy and make problem to others.

A condition a human being feels, whch requires a supply or relief. For example : hunger or sex.
On the other hand "desire" is a wish accompanied by a strong intention or aim.
Needs are to be "filled", wants are to be satisfied and desires to be well taken care of!

Needs are existential, needs are of the being, such as hunger, thirst, sex, love, belonging, esteem and self actualisation. Whereas, the desires are made up by culture, propaganda and suggestions. For instance ,drinking water is a need which is essential for life whereas, Coco cola is a desire,it has no essential element that is required by the body, yet,a craving has been built up thanks to media biz!!

Dear Sister Meen, needs are the basic demands of our existence as a human being. They need to be compulsorily attended to otherwise the human being cannot survive healthily. Food, clothing, shelter, sex, love, friendship, social belongingness are all the basic demands of any normal healthy human being. Desires are something which are catered to like a luxury above our needs. Desires unlike needs can be relatively different to each individual.
