The problem you may have buying from an American company is that your warranty may not be honored in India. All the camera companies have Authorized Importers for countries and/or geographic regions. The Authorized Importers pay more for the cameras and lenses to support the warranty service centers for their area.

Its legal for a non-authorized importer to buy cameras and lenses in one country and sell them in another. This is called the "gray market" and camera companies are constantly trying to prevent such transactions. Some companies release the same camera with different designations for different countries and/or geographic regions. The person who buys a "gray market" camera or lens pays less and thinks they have saved money until warranty service is refused.

You will have to decide if having no warranty coverage is worth the savings.

If you are in India, then the answer to online buying from sites like Dell or Amazon is NO. They do not deliver these items in India. Only item you can buy online and get it delivered here in India is books. I have bought books from several sites, yet 2 percels never arrived. I also bought one small electonic item at Amazon which was supposed to be delivered, eventually did not arrive. Amazon refunded me the amount. You will be better off buying it in Grey market at Mumbai or Delhi. Grey prices are about 40 - 50% lesser than MRP.

Before you buy:

-- Ask the seller whether the camera's warranty is valid in India.

-- Ask the Customs Office in India if there is duty on the camera and how much.

-- Take into consideration that the shipping may be very expensive.

Hope this helps.
