I guess because of my exposure to the possibilities of life in space from my dear friend Dr. Frank Drake, this stands out as the biggest mystery to me. Dr. Frank Drake, my friend and client is considered to be the father of SETI (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) He has spent the greater part of his life searching the skys and listening for signals from outer space. He is an astrophysicist and is most famous for founding SETI and creating the Drake equation. The Drake equation is an attempt to estimate the number of extraterrestrial civilizations in our galaxy with which we might come in contact. The scientific equation starts off as N = R* • fp • ne • fl • fi • fc • L
Dr. Frank Drake is the Director of the SETI Institute's Center for the Study of Life in the Universe and also serves on the Board of Trustees of the SETI Institute as Chairman Emeritus. In 1960, as a staff member of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, he conducted the first radio search for extraterrestrial intelligence. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences where he chaired the Board of Physics and Astronomy of the National Research Council (1989-92). Frank also served as President of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific. He was a Professor of Astronomy at Cornell University (1964-84) and served as the Director of the Arecibo Observatory. He is Emeritus Professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of California at Santa Cruz where he also served as Dean of Natural Sciences. In 1971 Drs. Carl Sagan, Frank Drake, and Phil Morrison join Russian scientists at the joint US-USSR SETI Conference in Byurakan, Armenia, Soviet Union to help further advance the cause of SETI.
SETI is an exploratory science that seeks evidence of life in the universe by looking for some signature of its technology. Dr. Frank Drake is the main reason we have acheived the success we have so far in our search for life in deep space. He has sparked my interest in the mystery of life in outer space in our private talks. He once told me, it would be his life long dream to finally make contact with the first intelligent life from the solar systems while he was still alive to see his accomplishments. Frank Drake designed the Pioneer plaque with Carl Sagan in 1972, the first physical message sent into space. The plaque was designed to be understandable by an extraterrestrial should they encounter it. Definitely, a fascinating man and a mystery man as yet to behold. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071111141712AAmIW2x http://www.fennzart.com/planetarysystems/drake_equation.html

A 3 hundred and sixty 5 days later in a radiance of sunshine the monk regarded and the different monk waited yet he stated no longer something. So he asked? distinctive? The monk shook his head no. So he stated. "precisely"? The monk shook his head no back. Exasperated the monk stated.. then what? He stated: "precisely distinctive"!

There is no mystery about the condition of the dead.
(ECCLESIASTES 9:5-6) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. 6 Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun.

(ECCLESIASTES 9:10) All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in She′ol, the place to which you are going.

She'ol is the grave.

I find sometimes find myself wondering as I look at the stars if there are others out there wondering back.

We will not likely ever meet them. They are to far away in both space and time.
