When you are looking at what to study, looking at your long term goals, as far as the ability to obtain a job and to make an acceptable salary are important. But you also have to look at what your aptitudes and interest are. In most cases the general field of study will guide the type of jobs you will take during your life. Career counselors can tell you that very seldom do people remain in one job for their entire adult life. Most have more than 3 job positions, people in business and nursing change positions more frequently than most occupations.

When I was in college, my brother convinced me that no matter what happened in the world, people would always buy and sell things, so there would always be a need for finance and accounting majors. I switched to finance. I hated every minute of it. I ended up dropping the major after 2 semesters, which wasted my time, tuition money, and actually decreased my grade point. I switched to nursing and was dean's list the rest of the way through school. I have stayed with nursing since, had many positions and eventually obtained a master and doctorate degree in the health care field. The choice worked well for me, and I have done well financially, and am retired at 50 years old. It turns out, no matter what happens in the world people will get sick and need health care.

My brother has not manage to retire yet, but he has managed to sqeak by with his business major, he is CFO of his corporation and recently was able to obtain 49% of the corporation.

Study what you are interested in, and then apply yourself to what you like. You will do the best financially and emotionally if you are satisfied with your career choice.

a million. while you're unhappy inclusive of your cutting-edge application, change. As somebody who's been with the aid of that, i will inform you to not wait around to work out in case you initiate off liking it extra, because of the fact it in all probability won't ensue. you will only finally end up dropping time in instructions you won't desire interior the top. 2. while you're even in the slightest degree squeamish, i don't be conscious of if nursing is for you. human beings in many cases do not "get used" to blood and needles in the event that they have an aversion for it from the start. In nursing college you will cope with blood, urine, excrement (poop, for the layman), sticking those with needles, diapers (adults and toddlers), wounds, infections, and so on. it is not a job for somebody with a vulnerable abdomen. 3. you assert which you don't be conscious of precisely what you desire to do inclusive of your life. this is actual fantastic! besides the incontrovertible fact that, nursing is a few thing you may desire to have a keenness for. it is not some thing you may think of, "Oh, that is thrilling, and that i replaced into enormously solid at technology in severe college" and finally end up doing nicely. Nursing is fairly aggressive and somewhat complicated. It takes a point of dedication, complicated paintings, and fervour that some human beings only don't have. transforming into a nurse isn't any common feat. 4. in case you desire to help human beings yet you do not desire to paintings at the back of a table, nursing isn't your basically decision. you may pass into regulation enforecement, some style of therapy (actual or psychological), coaching, politics, broadcast journalism, and so on. If the scientific field does activity you yet nursing is only too extreme, you will get a level in some thing extra technical like radiology or dental hygeine. solid success!

Consider accounting. My BS degree is in nursing. I started out as a new grad at the Mass General in Boston. Granted things have changed since then, but nurses are still underpaid and overworked. We were always understaffed. However, if nursing is in your blood, you will always want to be one.

Uhh.. do you like Apples or Oranges? i'd say which Career do you like better, not what degree, alot of people with a degree out of college have trouble finding jobs in there major field anyways, so i guess the real question is do you or would you like to be a buisness person better than being a nurse & help take care of people?

It depends. They're most certainly very different degrees, and most likely somebody who wants to be a finance major doesn't want to be a nurse.

Technically, it doesn't matter which degree I think is better because it may not be better for you. Both are likely to get you a job, but nursing will probably get you a job more quickly and offer very strong job security since there is such a shortage of nurses. However, there is also much need for business people, so it's not like you won't find a job if you're a finance major.

It just depends on what your personal preference is. I'm a business major (accounting specifically) and I love it and wouldn't change to nursing for the world. My best friend is a nursing major and she wouldn't change to business for anything. I couldn't be a nurse, and she thinks business is boring. It's just whatever your calling is.
