I am 16 with an height of 5.7 inches and a bit overweight will I be able to gain height about 5.9?

Hey you're young, and probably not finished growing yet. I suppose there could be some support issues, your spine being compressed a little holding more of you up, you didn't say how much overweight. I am twice the man I should be and lost about an inch in height in the last ten years.

Well since you are only sixteen, you should be able to grow taller. I am not sure how tall, this will depend on how tall your genetic pool is. I grew another 2 inches after high school.

Well, my big brother was fat throughout his life and he is at 6 feet tall now, and still fat.
So yeah, I guess it's possible.

But if I had to say no, the most scientific explaination I can think of is...
Because you are over-weight, the body has to focus on supporting the weight from 'east to west' instead of 'north to south'.
Your pelvic girdle has to have alot of bone tissue and yada yada to support all the weight from your body, therefore harder to grow taller.
