I haven't been a military wife for that long and I was wondering if my husband get to come home for the birth of our child? If he don't get to come home to see the birth of our child will he get to call me and maybe see the birth via web cam.

If it his first child, then he should be able to come home from where-ever he is, except basic-training/AIT.
If you are deployed most of the time you will be redeployed to witness the birth of your first child. Just make sure that he informs his commander and 1SG very far in advance so they can get all the necessary paper work in order.

Good luck, and congratulations.

It depends on the branch and the situation. Marines do not send their Marines home for the birth of their kids unless its a life or death situation for the child or the mother. Soliders, with longer deployments however, sometimes can be able to plan their R&R leave around the birth of their kids. But remember, in all branches, the mission comes first.

When I was a 1SG I would do what I could to juggle the leave schedule so the soldier could be home when their baby was born. However - the mission does have to come first and there is nothing we can do.

Ask him to contact his "chain of command". The commander is the one with the authority to to put your husband on leave. The criteria is different from unit to unit, unit strength, and the current mission are a few examples that will have a lot to do with the commander giving his approval.

Depends on the situation. Depends on which branch of service and what his command policy is. If he is allowed to it will be on his dime on his leave. If he just deployed he may not be able to leave right away. If he is stationed somewhere where he has that kind of internet access he should be able to, BUT most doctors won't let any video camera in the room do to liability reasons.

if he is in school or deployed: No. if he is merely stationed someplace where you were not permitted to go( say Korea) then it's possible IF he submits the leave request and has some accumulated.

having cameras or phones in the delivery room is the at the discretion of the doctor and hospital.

the one thing that you didn't mention was which branch your husband is in. some branches are more liberal with the leave policy than others. if he is deployed, then chances are he will not. first child or not, it depends on his command more than anything. but i would get him to put the paperwork in right now and not wait longer. he might get lucky but i wouldn''t count on it. sorry if i rained on your parade.

Unfortunately it's service before self. So, probably not.

The needs of the military come first. I would say no.

It can depend on where he is and what he is doing. If he is overseas in an area like Iraq or Afghanistan then he could see if his R&R could be around the due date time. But there is no guarantee that it will happen or you will deliver during that time.

If he is in schooling then probably not.

With the video cam it is hard to say because again it will depend on where he is at the time.
