There is one God and one truth.
Not to push anything on you but to share this truth with you.
We know God becauae we sought God and he revealed his truth to us.
Those who love and seek the truth receve a gift from God called faith,
It is through faith that we receve revelation from God.
Through revelation we receive a personal relationship with God.

Christians only seek to tell others of the Gospel and the way to Salvation through faith in Christ because Christians such as I believe that if one does not become saved and accept the free gift of Salvation then that person will indeed spend an eternity separated from God which truly would be Hell. Christians are commissioned to go unto the World and tell others that they no longer need to live in guilt and that because of what Jesus has done they can lay there heads down on their pillow at night and know for an absolute certainty that when they pass from this fleeting life they will then gain Eternal life in Heaven. One does not need to live their entire life by the Bible to go to Heaven, if that were the case every Christian would be damned also. The one thing that one does have to do in order to go to heaven is clearly stated in John 3;16. "For God so loved the world that he have his only begotten Son,that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life".But living according to the Bible does bring spiritual blessings and spiritual protection and also pleases our Heavenly Father. Christians seek to please God not because we have to but because we are grateful for the price he paid so that we would never have to pay for the debt that we rightly owe for our own sins. Sin is a very real thing and it does carry a price tag. If one doesn’t believe that sin even exists then that person needs to take a serious look at the horrors that go on each day in this World and tell me that these things are just" fine and dandy" and that the worst that can happen to someone who commits these acts of sin is there own death which according to many is nothing more than consciousness ceasing to exist. For example, why is it that through the act of murder a man can take several lives and then at the worst only have to forfeit his own one life?. This doesn’t seem very just to me at all and it certainly isn't to God Almighty. In conclusion, the reason that faith in Christ is the only way to Salvation is because the price that the Son of God paid on the Cross of Calvary was the only payment that was acceptable to God for the sins of all mankind. Past, present and future.

Unfortunately, as it was under the church in the middle ages, there are Fundamentalist Christians that want the world to be controlled by the church.

Their church. Not any of the variations of Christianity that are different from their version, either.

They believe that theirs is the only way to enlightenment, which is wrong because if it were, there wouldn't be any other religions.

This is a desire to return us to a time when heresy was a crime and nothing was legal unless it was something that the church approved of. Of course that rule was suspended for the rich and for the hierarchy of the church.

It would, of course, also put science back over 1000 years, like it did after the fall of Rome.

And forget about free speech or freedom of religion or the press.
These would all be subject to scrutiny and editing by the church-state.

They tell us all that they are right and that we should "take it on faith" that what they tell us is true.

Problem is, how does one have faith in hypocrites?

And when they are wrong, do you think that they will admit it? No, they will not.

Instead of being responsible and taking responsibility for their actions, they will all say that they were mislead by Satan or Lucifer or whatever variation of their "devil" that they believe in.

Of course, that also means that they cannot take credit for the good that they might do because it was "God's will", not theirs that did the good.

That's the trouble with religions that are "feel good" religions for the weak-minded.
No accountability for the bad also means no credit for the good.

They are lead by the likes of Pat Robertson who is such a loving and good person that he told one town that if they had a natural disaster, they should not ask God for help because the rejected God when they rejected teaching "intelligent design" in the public schools.
Those of us that have been or are Christian must have missed that part of love thy neighbor (unless they think different from you) in bible study as kids.

These are the guys that would resurrect witch hunts and burnings.

i am christian, i like to share my Jesus to unbeliever, but i don't like to push my faith on someone. Only the bible is God's word. That's why we christian want to spread the Good News.

God loves you.....
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Jesus is the only way to salvation....
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

and Jesus wants you to be with him in heaven....
John 14:2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.

may the Lord Jesus bless you....

A question that I find very interesting as well. A classic case of one source studies and fear. Any religion that uses fear as a motivator to convert your family members lest they suffer an eternity in hell is displaying a human weakness. Not all religions do this nor believe this, and I am not railing against Christians. You can be a religious person and understand the bigger picture. If you believe in a Higher Power who is love, then it is a bit of a streatch to believe that He will forever smite those whom He created to live in a foreverland of toture. It is the same fear that the RAPTURE will come and there will be those who will be left behind.
The Rapture is proof of the habitual concurance many religious people have with what their religions teaches versus what their Holy Book actually says. Look it up, the idea of the Raputre actually came from a Scottish woman's vision, but the majority of Christains will fight to the death ( and vote negiativly on any Y!A answer) that would speak against it.
Fear has no place in Love-

i'm a christian and i don't believe that people are damned to a fiery hell, they just live their lives, Die and that's the end of it.

Eternal torment in a fiery hell just doesn't make sense. Even if i lived lets say 60 years as a murderer even, it wouldn't be justice to burn in hell FOREVER. maybe for as long as 60 years, or even a little longer, but FOREVER. That would be crazy. In order for the idea of a burning hell to be true, God would have to be evil and unjust, therefore i just feel bad for the people that tell me that people are going to burn in a firey hell forever because i realise they aren't living their lives for the love of god, but because they fear ABUSE from the creator of the universe. I'm a little sad to say that i end up questioning their sense of justice and therefore the rest of most of their reasoning.

If I really thought I had life's answers, I would try to tell everyone I knew - especially if I thought their ignorance would prevent them from heaven.

As most people don't have that luxury/problem, we only get it from people who read and absolutely believe what others have written.

If any one dogma were all true; it would make life very easy.

Because Christianity and Islam teaches that their religion is the only correct religion and that they MUST recruit others. That their god is the ONLY god around and all others are false and must be destroyed.

They aren't taught the tolerance that Christ preached. Most of them don't understand why someone would reject their religion and really want to save you from eternal torment.

That makes a wall that's hard to get around.

Personally, I think my religion is the right one for me but not for everyone. I wish all religions would teach that.

many of them are close minded and very insecure with how they really feel. they are scared to discuss other religions for fear of seeing something through anothers eyes. and who knows, if they saw it more logical than their own beliefs they might feel bad they've steered away from the book. this would then scare them, and theyd revert back to the bible. which would probably lead them to believe they were damned to hell. and that is why they wont listen, because they are scared to accept different beliefs.
this isnt all Christians though. just the extremists.
and the reason they believe their religion is the only right one is because, perhaps if another religion was more right/correct, then theyd look dumb and feel obligated to switch.
