AIDS is actually a syndrome, not a disease. It is CAUSED by a disease called HIV. The HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) attacks cells of the immune system that are essential for the immune response thus compromising the host's immunity. When it is compromised enough- the person has AIDS or acquired immune deficiency syndrome. A person can have HIV and not have AIDS. Entirely dependent upon viral loads (how much HIV is in circulation) and the amount of CD4 cells (the immune cells the virus attacks) present.

It is spread by exchange of bodily fluid most notably blood and semen. You can't really get it from kissing or sharing a drink or things of that nature. People who have unsafe sex or use IV drugs are at highest risk but it can be acquired from unsafe tattoos (Hepatitis is more an issue here), hospital setting (workers are more at risk than patients), and if receiving blood products transfusions.

AIDS is an immune deficiency disease caused by the HIV virus. My friend was in the CIA. Evidently the US gov't along with the gov't in Africa created a virus as a form of biological warfare to suppress the population. Supposedly during WWII a solder was paid to spread the disease to America.... (once again as a form of populating regulation) through sexual intercourse. If anyone mentions anything about a monkey, they're and idiot. No monkey has ever been found to have AIDS, EVER. do your research and you will see it's all true.

AIDS is caused by a virus that specifically targets white blood cells, which are your body's immune cells. You basically lose immunity to everything out there which is why what kills you is going to be an infection with something else that your body couldn't prevent rather than the AIDS virus itself.

It came from the African Monkey.... so, unfortunatley, the guy that answered "some guy was doing a monkey in Africa" was most likely right.... He did a monkey, then his wife... she did the neighbor, who did the lady down at the other village, who traveled to Kenya, and did a couple other village dudes... one of which was visiting from the states..... That bastard, then brought it back home with him.

The reason for AIDS is the same as for the common cold, the flu, and every other communicable disease ever known. Pure and simple, population control. Every time a species overgrows it's bounds, mother nature comes up with a new way to check them. Evolution is a miraculous thing. The human race has become far advanced in treating and curing the basic diseases that used to cause plagues and major loss of population. So mother nature released some new tricks, among them HIV/AIDS. Other examples include new strains of the flu, and the drastic rise of cancer in the human population.
