i have the same reaction to alcohol. my whole body becomes tomato red and slightly itchy.

when i notice myself scratching, i know its time to stop drinking. a glass of water usually stops the reaction.

i also have low tolerance ( 1 bottle of beer.) gradually increasing the amount of alcohol you drink will increase your tolerance.

moderation is the key! :D

goodluck!

your skin turns red bc the blood vessels dilate when you drink alcohol and can cause that flushed look and feeling. AA teaches that alcoholics have an allergy to alcohol but in a different capacity. the itchy part i'm not sure about. your tolerance is low is why you get drunk quickly. if you have anyone in your family history with addiction issues you shouldn't drink... it's not worth it, trust me.

An alcohol allergy would be very uncommon. However, you could be allergic to other ingredients in an alcoholic beverage, such as wheat or sulfur dioxide, a preservative. There are also substances in some alcohol beverages such as wine that can cause flushing or even rashes.

You just might be allergic if it gives you that type of reaction. As for the getting drunk quickly part, your tolerance probably hasn't built up yet. I have that problem...very annoying! haha. I would just drink in moderation if you keep getting skin reactions, or find out what type of alcohol may be triggering your skin's reactions.
