Start in the East, call on the Guardian of air to join you.
move to the south - fire
move to the west - water
move to the north - earth
move back to the east
The circle is closed - no going in or out unless you use the athame to open a doorway. Close the doorway when the person returns to the circle.
Call upon the Lord and Lady to join your ritual. Bless the water in the chalice and the food on the pentacle (that's your offering for later).
From that point - what are you wanting to accomplish in the ritual? Worship of the deities? Raising energy for a healing (the earth can always use it).
When ready - say "thank you" to the Lord and Lady and wish them well as they leave the circle. Then take the athame and start in the east - move to the north and thank the guardian of the earth. Move to the west, thank the guardian. Move to the south, thank the guardian, move to the east, thank the guardian. The circle is open but unbroken - blessed be.
Added: Pwnc(?) Heathenism is a religion. It is the reconstruction religion of the Northern Europeans and Anglo-Saxons. It can be called Astau, Vanatru, Theodism, heathenism, and a few others.
I am the founder, chieftain, and gythia (ritual leader) of a Kindred that has been in existence since 1993.

Speaking as a Wiccan, David, you should know more than you do before you cast a circle.
Read a book, read three.

there is alot you must do before the circle is cast in preparation for it.1.you must have all things prepared and ready. 2.water preferably holy.3.small amount of wine.4.salt and incantation to keep all the spirits inside the circle.5.you need to much to name these are just a few of the things.this isn't something that you just do.you must know if there are any holidays to prepare food also in recognition of the holiday.you must also know what god or goddess your going to use.you offer them a peace offering.you must also know what their faveorite color is what plant they like or their fav.what's their favorite and some even like metals there is alot to this you don't just cast a circle. you may get ahold of something you don't want or even like. there are some gods you just don't bother.the gods and goddesses have a strange sense of humor at times and if you know not what you are playing with they will play tricks on you.i can tell you just from what i read you are too young in the arts to play with casting a circle.my advise is to find a mentor who can show you the ropes.because if you don't know how to close either you can leave gates open and it will be there until you learn how to close them.

Why don't you try thinking. Real, real hard. If you know about the four elements, then you might consider that there is a fifth that has all the answers you need.

*sigh* So many nasty answers. I don't want to go into details on how to do it. I will say this though: There is a lot of good material available at your local bookstore on the subject. My personal favorite is "The Book of Shadows -- The Solitary Witch" by Silver Ravenwolf.
*edit* Thank you, Frau Hunter. That was described beautifully!
