A guy who puts you down doesn't love you, no matter how much you may think. Why would someone who loved you want to upset you or hurt your feelings?

You need to leave this guy and find someone way better, who'll be a gentlemen and treat you right!

If you are unhappy you have several choices. If he makes you feel bad, is critical, and controling break up with him and look for someone else. You could also discuss your feelings and tell him you are unhappy, if he loves you he should be willing to make changes. If you don't want to see him on New Year's Eve don't ....that could force some kind of changes.

I am sorry you are going through this :( Give it some serious thought..Talk to him, let him know how u feel when he brings up your ex..I am feeling down myself my man is doing a gig out in the Caribbean..He and I have been on and off for years now. I know that it is time for me to hang it up with him and for good this time yet I love him too. I have not heard from him since early this afternoon..He should be done and no calls..I know he will call with some lame excuse and TRUTHFULLY.I am done with his bullshi*

I am working on my speech..yet what makes it hard is that it is going to happen on new years eve..Good luck to you and I hope it does not ruin your new year..

If he is using things about your persona to make you feel bad AND drilling you about your ex he is one who lives in total fear when it comes to relationships. This type of person is not a happy one. They are so unhappy with themselves that they make sure to drive others away before the relationship really has a chance to grow and flourish. It may be a maturity issue, a personality trait, a spiritual issue, or the result of past experiences. Any which way, he is making sure to not allow you in. Until he is content with his past, himself, and his potential, any relationship he seeks will not work. he will continue to self sabotage and bring others down in the process.

Is that what you call "love," making you feel bad about yourself? No, of course you shouldn't spend New Year's with him--or any other bloody day for that matter.

Ditch your "boy friend;" MAKE THAT YOUR NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION, and find someone who truly cares about you!

You may need to read some books on raising your self-esteem, or you could seek out professional help--a psycho-therapist would be very helpful.

I URGE YOU TO TAKE ACTION NOW; YOUR HAPPINESS DEPENDS ON IT.

If your unhappy get out! Its nothing worse then an unhappy relationship. If you want to make it work tell him how you feel. If he responds/reacts badly to it. Its either break up or stick with it. Good luck!
Happy new years!!! Have a good one what ever you decide to do!

It's never a good idea to talk about your ex's. A guy will doesn't need to picture his gf with another guy.(Trust me). Tell him that you don't want to talk about that time in your life, that you would rather talk about the present. What's in the past should stay in the past.

If he's using that against you, either break up with him or tell him you're thinking about it.
