You failed to say where you live. The laws differ from one place to another. Talk to someone at your local police dept. to find out what agency in your area issues concealed carry permits. In many states, this is the responsibility of the State Police. That agency should have a pamphlet that summerizes the applicable laws for concealed carry in your area.

In my state of Tennesseee it is a fairly simple practice of attending a one day school, shooting a little to prove I am safe (not that I am good at shooting) and then getting a permit from the state. Seems it was a little over $100 with fingerprinting required. School thing was about $75. My state permit is good for carrying in Tennesse concealed or in the open and is recognized in each surrounding state.

Concealed permits range from "Shall Issue" to "NO!"
It all depends on the State you live in. Wyoming is a "Shall Issue" State. Meaning once I pass a background check, I get my permit. Other States require you to take some kind of training. Others authorize permits, but unless you are rich and famous, you're not getting one. Still others refuse to allow concealed carry at all.

Each state is unique, but most would direct you to your local police department. Some are quite easy, others require you take a safety course. Some simply don't issue permits to anyone. They will likely ask you to justify your concealed carry request.
Here in California, no permits unless you are a celebrity.

The rules and regulations are spelled out for you in a booklet, you should have been given when you got your state CCW, or from info given to you in a class you have to take before obtaining the CCW.

What is your state?
Concealed Weapons laws vary widely from state to state. And there is no need of everyone chiming in about the laws in their state if you live elsewhere.
