My parents did apologize to me if they were wrong. It was a simple "Oops! sorry! " along with an explanation. I have taken the same approach with all my kids. Anyone can be wrong based on judgment made with bad information. Even with good information a decision can just have dumb consequences and if that happens to you as a parent you can simply tell the kids what happened, and why, and maybe everyone can learn from your mistake. I think apologizing within the family doesn't have to be a big deal. It's important to accept all family members as people who can and do make mistakes. The important thing about making mistakes is to learn from them and this is the way that we gain wisdom as we grow older.

I'm not a parent. My mother apologized to me occasionally. My father never did, even when he really ought to have. You definitely should apologize if you were wrong. As kids, they will emulate you and as adults they will respect you.

Humans make mistakes, including parents. We all have to own our mistakes. If I mess up and did something wrong, I apologize. It's only fair to do what I expect them to do.
My parents did the same.

Yes and yes. How can I expect them to apologize if I don't set the example an do it too. We are all human but apologies make us civilized.

You must apologize to your children to teach them that every one makes mistakes. I do apologize to my daughter when I am wrong.
