Astigmatism usually occurs when the front surface of the eye, the cornea, has an irregular curvature. Its not the whole eyeball that is mis-shaped like everyone is telling you. It just means that you cant see as clearly as you should but it is very common in many people.
some symptoms are
Distortion or blurring of images at all distances
Headache and fatigue
Squinting and eye discomfort or irritation
Astigmatism may increase slowly. Regular eye care can help to insure that proper vision is maintained.
Hope this helps. Good luck and Happy New Year!!! :)

You mean Astigmatism. Astigmatism is a refractive error that is found mostly in the eye that is football shaped rather than round, like a baseball. Keep in mind that there are other internal parts of the eye that can be the cause of astigmatism as well. Astigmatism is not a bad thing, and can be corrected with glasses- and in most cases, contact lenses.

You and I have astigmatism. :( The cornea has some irregularities which creates a blurry and/or distorted visual field.
There is nothing you can do to change it, and weirdly enough, sometimes it gets better as you grow older. My last eye exam showed an improvement.
Google 'astigmatism' for more information.

An irregular curvature of the cornea. If it is shaped more like a football rather than a basketball, light is not sharply focused on the retina. This results in blurry vision for both distance and near. LASIK can help correct this disorder.

it's not just the shape of th cornea. my cornea is spherical and yet i am astimagtic. it could be a tilted lens inside your eye or an oval shaped eyeball.
it is the difference in powers between the 2 axis of the eye, eg,. @90degrees and @ 180 degrees. the axes are always 90degrees apart unless in ocular disease. this causes the image form in you eye to be a line rather than a dot and thus a spot of light would look like a streak

"Astigmatism" menas your eyeball is not prefectly round. WEll, no one's is perfectly round, but when you have an astigmatism, it means it is more oblong shaped, kind of like a football. This affects the angles at which light enters the eye, obscuring the wayt hings are seen, which is why people with astigmatism tend to have to wear glasses and also why, if it's severe enough, they have to wear special lenses. There is nothing you can do to change it, it is just the way your anatomy is shaped..

It is really Astigmatism...
It's usually caused by irregular-shaped corneas...
It can be fixed with glasses, surgery, and even contacts...
It is really common...
It makes you have two focal points then just one...
It may lead to headaches or even strain....
If uncorrect....
That's all I know...
Hoped it helped....
