God did not design marriage for people of the same sex. He created Adam and Eve and they were created anatomically correct.
As far as gay people marrying it is wrong in every sense of the word. I hope that our country will make laws that will outlaw any hope of gay marriage and make a law that states that marriage is between one man and one woman.

Whether I think it is wrong or right not does not really matter.
To tell the truth, this is really an issue of government, not religion. I look at it this way, Marriage (from my point of view) can not be defined by the state. Since every religion has different theology on marriage. So really, whose definition can the state use.
But, that is the problem. The State should never ever use a religion's definition of what Marriage is. After all, isn't there suppose to be separation of Church and State?
So, maybe it would be better to do what France does which is that you have a State Marriage which is done by some Government official so that the Government will recognize that the couple is in a civil union under the State. And then after that ceremony the couple can have, if they desired, a marriage ceremony that is recognized by a Church.

The reason that I say this is because I ultimately believe that there should be separation of Church and State. The Government can not use one religion's definition of what marriage is. The Government should come up with it's own definition. The reason why the Government should come up with it's own definition is so that they are not endorsing one particular religion and also to ensure that there is a separation of Church and State. And, I prefer that the Government would not discriminate against Same-Sex Couples.
After all, they deserve the same rights that I enjoy. If they are not given their essential rights, How do I know that I have my Rights?

Unfortunately, some who put the rights of gays to marry have it wrong when one says that the state can't delegate laws concerning marriage. That is not completely right. We do have process called the vote. The states are not just governed by the legislative, executive, or even the judicial, it is also governed by the people through the voting process. In California, the proposition that determined that marriage would only be recognized as between a man and a woman passed overwhelmingly and the state is considered very liberal. Unfortunately, the legislative and judicial are still trying to usurp the will of the people and put in laws that will make it easier for gay couples to finally get married and have it recognized. It has mostly been the out of control judges of the state and federal superior and supreme court that have relegated many of the state laws moot.

The bible says its not okay but then again the bible says we can sell our daughters into slavery, stone those who work on sundays, and kill those who do things such as wear clothes made of two different kinds of threads. The Bible isn't ment to be taken literally like that. Over the years we have lost the message of what it was about and if you truely think about it many things in the bible were written in to fit in social agendas and the put things into terms that people would understand. According to the bible we shouldn't "touch the skin of a dead pig". If this were still held up then we wouldn't have a ham. That line was written in there because at the time there were many diseases that were at the time uncurable that were carried in livestock. Inserting into the bible was a way of keeping the population healthy and reducing the outbreak of diesease.
Anyways getting back to my point, while the bible is a good guide because it was written thousands of years ago it is not ment to be taken literally today. Gay marriage is definately ok. God made all of us. He made us straight, gay, bisexual, all of that. God made us to have a mind to think with and a heart to love with. He gave us diversity so that we could learn to accept eachother and learn from one another. Also those that are all about the bible forget that just a little while after it supposedly says homosexuality is a sin, it also saids love thy neighbor as thy self. What ticks me off is when people try to tear someone else down using religion but only pick the parts that suit them and fail to use the whole thing.
Gay marriage is ok because of the fact that this country is based on equality. Why should one pair of consenting adults be allowed to married while another shouldn't. If its because they can't have children, then why should people who are infertile be allowed to marry? There is no definate answer that says a marriage has to be a man and a woman. Marriage is a commitment to someone you love and want to spend the rest of your life with. Love is not blind, love just doesn't discriminate.

I think that the bible is clear that sexual activity should only take within a marriage between a woman and a man. It is silent on sexual orientation which is not surprising because it was not understood - In fact it is only in the last thirty odd years that medical people have stopped considering it an illness.
The bible is also silent on Gay Marriage.

Since the arrival of reliable contraception heterosexual people are able to have sex without intending to have a child. Most theological thinkers do not disapprove so the question with which I and, I suspect, many others is struggling is whether this makes it okay for people of the same sex to do the same when it is within a long term relationship.

I am heterosexual and my wife and I enjoy sex so perhaps I shouldn't be the one to answer this.

My point of view on gay marriage is that it wrong. But iam not here to tell you how to live your life either. It states clearly in the Bible that homosexuality is a sin but it also states in the Bible that sin is all equal so lying and being gay are equal in Gods eyes. So anyone that is gay will not be rejected by God and shouldn't be rejected by anyone.

I think gay marriage is wrong. Marriage is based on procreation. Most of the tax laws are based on a man and a woman, and dependants (having children). Check the tax tables. if a couple is married and has no children, the joint filing option is higher than filing seperately. at least it was for me last year. Why would someone want to get married for the purpose of paying higher taxes. I also think that the trial lawyers would make a lot more money and plug up the courts worse than they already are. And just think, while your waiting for your prolonged court date for a gay divorce, the media circus will have a field day with you. Why bother... and by the way .. I don't care what a couple does (gay or straight) just don't flaunt it in the streets. theres just too much of that kind of garbage. why can't more people just keep there bedroom lives in the bedroom ?

I'm speaking as an Atheist and a lesbian here. From my point of view it's fine. I'm not interested in marriage, but many gay couples are and I don't see why they should be treated differently. The bible's word means nothing to me, and other people's opinions differ greatly.

Official marriage on paper is a human invention.
Natural marriage is a need for two individuals to go together to procreate. Since we are human beings, and social animals, we need a partner to raise our children, and eventually a partner for life, for better and for worse; In short, a real marriage could only be between a man and a woman.
There is nothing mentioned about that subject in the US Constitution because this concept was just totally unbelievable for the Fathers of our Nation.
Now let's imagine one second that we impose gay marriage only, in our perverted Western World. How many humans would be alive and who would they be, 70 years from now?
Only the perverse can raise such question.

Marriage is a legal contract, not a religious contract, and as such should allow for same-sex couples to have all the rights and benefits of opposite-sex couples.

If a religion wants to "bless" or otherwise recognize a marriage, or refuse to recognize a particular type of marriage, that's their prerogative but it has no legal bearing. They're allowed to be as bigoted and discriminatory as they want, and things just wouldn't be the same if religions started acting open-minded.

Marraige might be the one reason for religions or similar organizations to exist . The government should only approve civil unions or contracts .
Organizations would then be free to honor only what types of marraiges they wished to . Gay Marraiges ,10 year marraiges , trial marraiges , Polygamy , Transgendered , group , etc. Of course we would have to alter the tax codes to compensate for these changes .

Professor cuddles .. Do you find it OK for hetero couples to be making out a Disneyland ?
BTW I am for LGBT rights , BUT it is true when I go to a nightclub with my wife I find it stimulating to see other hetero coups being romantic . But I find it not so to see two gay males being romantic . Sorta spoils the mood . Matbe because I can not identify or feel empathy with them ?

french... What about a hetero person gettingmarried if they can't or choose not to have children . Are you saying that should not be allowed ?
