Go to college and when you enlist hope to get to go to officer candidate school.

Not even having a degree is a sure way to join with higher rank.

So basically if you don't want to join at a low rank don't join because there is no way to guarantee you will not join at the lowest rank.

You are exaclty my point that I brought up in "what happened to old school soldiers". You don't care about the first and foremost priority of joining the armed forces, to defend your country with your life! You want the easy way out, you offer nothing and you already want to know how to be a higher rank! Do us all a favor and don't even join the military, it takes a lot of dedication and grunt work to rise up through the ranks. I already know you don't have what it takes. Listen to the Marine who said "your first priority should be joining the United States Marines". Ever think of that?

Depends on how high of rank you are talking and if you are talking enlisted or officer. If you are talking enlisted...you can have 4 years of a JROTC in high school, certain rank in boy scouts, an associates degree, or while you are in the DEP or on boot leave if you can get one or two of your buddies to join through your recruiting office you can pick up an extra rank.

What do you consider a good rank? Enlisted: PFC? LCpl?
Depending on how you do at boot and any secondary school experience, you could graduate as either. If you want to start out any higher, you’ll have to earn it.

You’ll have to progress up the rank structure like everyone else, earning experience as you go. You have to learn to crawl before you can walk.

Finish college, maybe they will let you into an officer candidate program. Otherwise, you start at the bottom like everyone else. Do you think anyone WANTS to start at a low rank?

Get a college degree and a commission. You will start as a Second Lieutenant, which is 14 ranks up from the bottom.
(9 enlisted ranks and 4 warrant officer ranks.) You will only have 9 promotions to go to get to the top, a four star general.

Marine Recruit sounds good to me. Every Marine starts at the very high rank. You could always join the Air Force and become an Airman Basic

the highest you can enlist at is E2. Period. if you wanted to be an Officer, you'd have to have the 4 year degree in hand and be accepted for a Commission.

You can move up the ranks at a faster rate if you have a specialized skill.
