There have been times where my self esteem was shattered and ripped to schreds.

I know Biblically we are supposed to die to self see John 3:30 and crucify the flesh,

My question is what are good godly ways to biblically love oneself and not always be so "needy"?

What are good ways to love yourself and respect yourself and start the process of healing and restoration.

Thank you for all your answers God bless you and Happy New year hugsoooooooooooand blessings e4g

Please remember, the joy of the Lord is our strength. Neh.8:10. Don't let circumstance or situations take away from what has done and will do. Don't put all your hope in family or friends, they may be weaker than you. Jesus Christ will never let you down. You won't always receive what you want, but he will always supply your needs. You do what you can, and let God do what you can't. I have experienced it many times through the years. Above all learn from past experiences and rise above it. Mt.6:33: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his (righteousness) ; and all these things shall be added unto you. Have a good day. Acts238

Good ways to love yourself. Start with acceptance of good and bad of self. You are both. You are not a subject of something that just not there. You are not and should not be subjected to a belief that you have to fight within yourself about either. You do not need to follow the demands or views of the many, you are after all singular - you need to find what your beliefs are, they are internal and have to be sorted out via your own system. Truth removes fear, once fear is gone you are free to explore and learn. Be honest with who you are and what your beliefs are all about, in other words - be true to yourself.

The best way to love yourself is by holding onto what Christ said was the greatest of commandments, To love God with ALL you heart, mind, soul and strength and to love your neighbor like you love yourself. You will Find that you own self esteem will come out in the end better than when it went in by following these two guidelines.

Advice:
Take the term. " Self Esteem" and throw it into the toilet.

In place of that:
Esteem God

Your question:
My question is what are good godly ways to biblically love oneself and not always be so "needy"?

My answer:
Trust God. He helps those in need.

Isaiah 25
4 You have been a refuge for the poor,
a refuge for the needy in his distress,
a shelter from the storm
and a shade from the heat.

2 Corinthians 5:15
And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

Start with one simple fact: God loves you absolutely without reservations. God will forgive all of your flaws and weaknesses.

Perhaps there is a pattern and a reason behind your "self esteem" being ripped to shreds. We are all imperfect, and need to remain humble. We are only saved through the intercession of Christ, who died for our sins.

Love Christ, and realize that, as imperfect as we are, he knows and loves each and every one of us unconditionally. So we are deserving of love somehow, not because we are so great and perfect, but we are loved just the same. Accept your imperfections and limitations, strive to limit and overcome them as much as you can, and focus on God's love for us. Even our suffering must have some benefit, or God would not have created us with the ability to suffer.

Learn to become kind and loving. Listen to people who are trying to help you. Don't do things in order to receive. Be a shoulder to lean on. Give praise where praise is due. Confess your faults to God and pray to Him to help you overcome them. Do these things and God will return your self esteem to you.

This is one of my fundamental disagreements with Christianity. Christianity says that we are to be lowly, and consider ourselves to be nothing. I say that's wrong. Jesus followed Judaism, and Judaism teaches that if you don't take care of yourself, you can't possibly help anybody else.

I believe in a balanced approach to life; neither too much caring only for oneself, or too much of caring only for others. An extreme in either direction is bad for you, and means you are treating one of God's creations - YOURSELF - very badly.

Next time you talk to God, look for Him within yourself.

Once you discover that your "temple" has an Occupant, maybe your self-perception will change a bit.

You may find that your "self" is merely a PERCEPTION of self.
