There is no such thing as astral projection, out of body experiencem, and near death experiences where people see light, tunnel, god, etc.... Most of these phenomenons can be explained from anaesthesia, drugs, lucid dreaming, and hallucination caused by many other factors. I myself have experienced hypnopompic paralysis(sleep paralysis) where the person experiencing is inflicted with auditive, visual, and tactile hallucinations. This occurs when the person wakes up during REM sleep, during this stage the person's body becomes paralyzed in is woken up mostly from a sound. Once the person has awaken they feel something pressing on their chests, they eventually realize that they are unable to move and speak. After this happens the person begins to hallucinate in increasing forms. This is one reason why so many people are so absolutely sure of having an OBE, seeing ghosts, aliens, monsters, loved dead ones and so forth. Edgar allan poe suffered from this as well and talks about his freightning experience in "Premature Burial".
