Assuming his paperwork has been processed, he'll get paid sometime on the 31st. No guarantee of when. If not, he'll get paid on the 15th.

most people in the military already got paid either friday or saturday (depending on the bank) if the money doesnt hit your account by monday ...which is the last possible day because of tues being a holiday then most likely he wont get first check until the 15th (which I think is most likely)....this isnt just a military thing, in the civilian world you may have to wait a full month or more for your first check from a new job. these things take time. also you said you chose a different bank so you could be put on there......you can choose to have your check deposited into any account even one you guys had before he enlisted....if you had to open a new account with a new bank it could possibly be a hold up with your bank....regardless id call the bank monday morning and see if the money is there or not.

It would be deposited today (monday the 31st). Some banks (like Wacovia) will credit your deposit a business day early (you would have been pay on Friday).

It takes 6-8 weeks to get his first check after entering Basic. His recruiter should have told him that.

because he started so late, it is very possible that the first pay will not be in the bank until January 15th. Especially with the holidays and paperwork being done a few days early for the Jan 1st pay. With most people who bank the pay was deposited on Friday night although some are pending to be deposited on the 31st.
If he isn't paid until the 15th then it will be backdated to the date he started, so it will be a higher deposit at first.

You should read my post about "what happened to old school soldiers". I guess I should've mentioned wives as well. Todays military soldiers are more concerned about pay and career options than actually defending our nation. Todays military can't even come close to comparing with the true patriots that gave everything they had in the world wars.
