The fanatical attacks on immigrants to the United States have risen to an irrational level. As a nation composed of immigrants, this divisive obsession on the part of some people poses an imminent threat to our national security.

By supporting measures that would reduce immigrants to animal/chattel status ("Shoot them on sight" "No, put them in work camps" etc.), the anti-immigrant fanatics are preparing the way for those who would take away the rights of ALL workers in this country.

They provide a cover for racism, use helpless people as scapegoats, and promote a culture of disdain for learning foreign languages, which destroys the ability of the U.S. to function in foreign markets. Removing the many billions of dollars that are pumped into the U.S. economy, with only a few million taken out, due to the actions of immigrants, would destroy the U.S. economy.

As people posing an imminent threat to U.S. national security, should anti-immigrant fanatics be imprisoned?

Those of you anti-immigrants who claim "it's only illegals, we aren't against all immigrants" should check out these answers. I have not said (YET) ONE THING about illegal or legal, but the venomous outpouring of racist hate has spewed forth from your friends, NOT mine.

And they prove that anyone who claims "playing the race card" is a fake argument is as wrong as those who believe the earth is flat.

80s kid, I am a native-born American citizen who believes in my 2nd Amendment rights.

I have a right of armed self defense, and when I deal with folks like you, I am SO glad I do.

Hang in there, baby. The nuts won't win. They are driven by hatred deliberately stirred up by the wealthy to use as a wedge between working people, so they can abuse us ALL.

But American workers are smarter than that.

I have threatened no one, Bundy (are you sure it's Al, and not Ted?). If you examine the comment by 80s kid saying I should be shot in the head, I think that noting that I have the will and ability to resist it is perfectly legitimate.

And, Ted Bundy, please note that I have the ability and will to resist you and your threats, as well.

Forgive me if I say that I have my doubts that you would dare carry on like this in person.

Just using their own idiom, MLK.

After all, if I said "class security of working people in the U.S." I would get mostly anti-union tirades.

I don't think so because I believe in free speech, but you made a lot of valid points. As a legal immigrant and a person of color It makes me wonder if the antis hate me too. A lot of them use the illegal immigration issue as a cover for racism and it makes me wonder if they hate any person who is not white and wasn't born here. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way.

I would be interested in hearing more about how this group is a threat to national security. Nothing you have listed so far puts them into this state.

To get a better idea of what both sides were talking about, I spent a week or so with two very different groups: The anti-illegal immigration folks in AZ, and a humanitarian relief group in the same area.

I walked/drove around reporting on illegal immigration in and around the Tombstone-Tucson areas, and assisted the Border Patrol in one apprehension. 28 people were detained, for eventual return to Mexico. One person in the group was given immediate medical attention- possibly saving his life (severe dehydration).

The next month I drove around putting water out at particular points in the desert. They seemed very well used points, and were ALWAYS depleted by the time we got back to them (1-2 days). I never actually saw anyone during this week, but heard another group on the radio we used directing a group of 30 or so away from a Border Patrol vehicle. I left the group at this point. When asked why, I let them know that they had just broken the law, and I did not want to be associated with that. Apparently, they did not see my logic and got more than a bit loud and fairly threatening. I am glad Arizona is an open carry state.

I have said all that to say this- those people who immigrate illegally- that is, contrary to current US policy and law- are breaking that law. When you enter another country, you are subject to that countries laws, whether you know/understand them or not. While these people all have a right to be treated in a humane fashion, they are still subject to that law.

Both sides of this issue have fanatics. Both need to be a bit more moderate in my opinion.

The imminent threat to the national security of this country is the illegal aliens streaming across the border and the traitorous criminals that support them. The illegal aliens should be removed using the full force of police and military forces. The disloyal who support the breaking of our laws by encouraging this criminal activity should be jailed for conspiracy. That includes the clergy of the catholic church who support the illegals as a way of maintaining their dying religion

If you take exception to people voicing their 1st amendment right to speak out against illegal immigration, tough. Ignorance is also covered by the first amendment. Being against illegal immigration is neither racist nor does it rise to the level of a crime. The race card is used by people who can't defend their position through rational debate. It is the last resort of those who lack a valid argument to the contrary.

Edit: WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!! I'm married to a Korean who immigrated here legally. Try again. Your asinine race argument is still invalid. Also, the answers I seen in opposition to your absurd assertion have all stated "illegal immigration" while your dubitable proclamation states "immigration."

A thinly veiled threat regarding 2nd amendment rights. You are indeed a very frightening person (NOT!).

It is the illegal immigrants that is the problem. They suck billions of dollars out of our economy with welfare, educational resources, medical expenditures to name 3. I would rather pay more for food picked by citizens of the US than picked by illegal immigrants. The food would be far cheaper in the long road.
We should build a southern wall and arm it with soldiers to protect us. The northern side... NO, because they bring hockey and Molsens and go back. It is nice there.

What are you smoking, to ask that question? No one has advocated violence toward illegals (or toward LEGAL immigrants either, since you bunched them together).

Those of us who advocate securing our borders and deporting all illegals LAWFULLY advocate enforcement of our existing immigration laws. No more. No less.

If you oppose illegal immigration and want our laws enforced, then you're a brother American, and we don't hate you.

If you support illegal immigration, then you're part of the problem, and you're as much an enemy as any of these illegals.

It's not about race, it's about whether you behave like an American citizen or not, and stand on the side of the U.S., or have foreign loyalties that are hostile to the U.S.

"As people posing an imminent threat to U.S. national security, should anti-immigrant fanatics be imprisoned?" No, because they do not exist.

There are no "anti-immigrant fanatics". This is only a construct of your imagination.

There are plenty of us who are against Illegal Aliens. Illegal Aliens are not welcome in my country. They are the security risk. They are the tax liability. They are the problem.

Your entire question is redundant and hypocritical. You have no reservation at lashing out against decent Americans who want to protect their country from being overrun by illegal immigrants, yet you turn a blind eye to the fact that every border jumber is performing an illegal act to begin with. So what you're basically saying is, its okay to illegal sneak into the USA. There are no long term consequenses to this at all. No effect on our political, economical and environmental standards. In fact, our living standards will improve in your eyes. The USA will be BETTER OFF if we completely do away with any immigration laws in general. Just let every person of every nation call this their home. Instead of shooting border jumpers my friend, you should be shot right in your thick head.

How about we IMPRISON all the ILLEGALS, deport them...then there would be No need for anti-ILLEGAL immigrant fanatics since all ILLEGAL immigrants would be gone. Thus, anti-ILLEGAL immigrant fanatics would cease to exist and there would be no need to arrest a group of people who don't exist. Are you following me pedro? Case Closed!

It's not a culture disdain for learning a foreign language. The culture of disdain is driven by the racist illegal alien border criminals and their supporters. Usually these are messycon who only support illegal aliens because almost all illegal aliens are messycons. That's the racial agenda here. Everyone who opposes illegal aliens opposes all illegal aliens no matter what country they come from, or what color their skin is. But if you've got the stones come and imprison us. This is just racist noise from cowards on the internet. At least the blacks, when they feel wronged have the guts to riot. The cowardly messycon just whine on-line.
