Because we believe in freedom of religion?

Why don't you?

Why do I talk about God? Because religion is a force of oppression and intolerance. I do my best to try to stop it.

Hmmm...where to start? Let me just say that I probably wouldn't mind God being in schools, the laws, or in the beliefs of our leaders if it weren't crammed down my throat all of the time. My problem isn't so much with God, but rather his followers. There's a fine line between one's personal religious convictions and a theocracy.

As for the second paragraph of your question, I'm not really sure what you're saying. I don't personally talk about God all day and night, so I don't really know who you are addressing. My guess is that the people who are opposed to having religion crammed down their throat are not spending their free time on Yahoo talking about God all of the time. It's just a guess.

Finally, your last two sentences are emblematic of the usual nonsensical diatribes of uber-religioisity. The sentence structure seems to be "blah blah blah, nonsensical babble, blah blah blah. Praise Jesus." You might as well be speaking German, because it makes no sense to me.

I'd love to have some laws passed that are directly related to the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Oh.. You wouldn't? Why is that? Because He is not the god you follow? But it's okay that we have laws that are directly related to the word of Jesus and the Abrahamic god, right? Because that's what many in this country follow. Right...

With the melting pot of this country being as it is, there are many people who do not subscribe to the Judeo-Christian god (or any god for that matter). Why would it be right to force your god upon those that don't believe in it?

Keep god out of schools, our government and our public properties. It's the right thing to do.

Oh, just because we like to discuss god, doesn't mean we want to worship or otherwise idolize it.

Because governmental things such as schools and laws ARE universal, they need to be adaptable for everyone.

In a nation where everyone is the same religion, God can easily have a place in schools and laws.

In a nation with religious freedom, and where multiple religions are practiced (such as the United States), one religion cannot be fairly chosen to represent all of the people. A Christian government cannot efficiently or fairly serve a population that isn't 100% Christian.

The only place? God works in mysterious ways? I think people crave God so much since he was taken out of their public lives that they turn to places like this. PEOPLE in general did not ask for God to be taken out, it is the MORAL MINORITY and GOVERNMENT (Those who wish to be politically correct - which I am not by the way!) who are convincing us that everyone else wants this. Did you know that this year there were more religious decorations out on private properties than ever? Could it be people are trying to tell everyone to ignore being politically correct and just do the right thing? At least for themselves? Think about it.

Because laws are suppsoed to reflect Justice

The Bible is hardly that

School is about education

Teaching science through Bible condemns USA to third world country scientific progress. The historical accounts are shakily supported, at best

Leaders is about making the best choices through the information

Not about single-minded relying of an archaic book for advice. And some of the more radical ones even view USA vs the Middle East as a Christianity vs Islam fight.

America is a free country where there are many people of different faiths. If our president (for example) talked about god to the public all the time, then it make many people feel uncomfutable. Just like if our next president was an athiest and always talked about he was right, christians would feel uncomfurtable. I love the concept of yahoo answers because you get to hear different points of views from others. I love to learn about different faiths and views, yet, i am agnostic. that is why. =]

Belief in god is nothing (even the devil believes in god). It is folly to push your religion on someone else - god would rather have you choose him than be forced to follow him (otherwise, he would have killed everyone off a long time ago).

"Do not be like the hypocrites, who make a big show of loving god so that others can hear them and think what good people they are . . ."

Yes, I like to try to educate believers that their beliefs are not shared by everyone and that their actions affect all of society. I have a vested interest in the education of my children and I do not want them to be taught that ignorance is the equal of knowledge. I also do not need or want your morals to be enforced through civil laws, we've seen how that works throughout our earlier history and how it is working in Islamic countries. Civil law needs to be for all members of society and it's function is to facilitate the survival of society, and not to make people moral.

People are mostly unsaved. They see the world as their father, the father of lies, sees it.

People are largely under-educated, and therefore, cannot see there is a diffrence between separation of church and state, and separation of God and state.

The founding fathers built this country based on the laws of God, and with Godly perspective. To try and eliminate God from Law and History would distort both law and history, and lead to a more liberal, and Godless society.

However, according to scripture, everything will happen as God sees fit, and therefore, this is all meant to be. If you know God, take comfort. Our deliverance is at hand.

God has given a few reasons:

John 3:19-21
19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
NIV

2 Cor 2:14-16

14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. 15 For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. 16 To the one we are the smell of death ; to the other, the fragrance of life.
NIV

They also follow the prince of this world who hates God and teaches his followers to do so also.
