I don't know if it's "fair" but it's sensible.... i'm 50 years old and was walking my dog at 7:30 tonight and some guy was at the end of the road... my dog is the type who loves everyone, but she didn't like this person at all... i could tell by her stance that she was concerned.. so we turned around and came home.
So..... your mom is just trying to protect you from potential harm.... and winter's not that long.
Maybe you could have a friend over after 5:00 some evenings, and your mom could take them home after a while? or their parents could come get them. Maybe this is an alternative way to see friends.
take care.

Extremly fair. At 14 do you really think you can protect yourself from being mugged or better yet kidnapped and raped. Now if it was a whole bunch of ya'll together it would be a different story but moms will always worry.

You're only 14 years old.
Of course it's fair. Winter, especially is dangerous, since you can't really hear if someone is behind you.

very fair - it's dark out, there is more chance of you getting hit by a car because they can't see you - or being snatched by someone and no one being able to identify the person who took you because it was too dark to see.

Yeah, especially if you live in a city. People do stupid, crazy things, and she must care about you a lot. She just doesn't want you to get hurt.
