and lets remember what Jesus has to say about the matter

Jesus says, “Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace on earth! No, rather a sword lf you love your father, mother, sister, brother, more than me, you are not worthy of being mine." Matthew 10:34

Don't worry, I'm an atheist. I remember reading this verse when I was a Christian and it sickened me, no way could i love Jesus more than my mother who raised me.

and those of you who think thats ok, are sick. How can one love a guy who has been dead for thousands of years, who may not even exist, more than their kids?

I do have faith though. Faith that your all lying to yourselves and deep down inside, although your afraid to ever consciously think about it for fear you may go to hell, that you do secretly love your kids more.

If somebody loves a dead guy more than his/her own child, that person should be placed in a mental hospital right away.

This question is shameful because you are trying to get Christians to openly choose between God and their children... which I believe you along with others like you can humorously "feast" off of Christians at their expense.

So, to make it clear to you and everyone else-
Christians who truly love God has submitted their lives to Him in full obedience... so their choice would be to follow His will and putting Him first resulting in blessings along with a measure of protection and all of the other great benefits for them as well as their loved ones (children, etc).

Where does the Bible command this?
MATTHEW 6:33 "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

Now, lets examine your comments concerning MATTHEW 10:34 which reads from the KJV Bible like this - Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword." - By reading this text literally and out of context, you can twist it anyway to make it mean anything you want it to. WHAT DOES IT REALLY SAY?

The first part of this passage "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth" - this is speaking directly to unbelievers and sinners alone, for these will have no peace, but contempt and punishment because they hold the blame.. Those who has accepted Him as their "Lord and Savior" will not suffer at His hand...

The second part of this passage "I came not to send peace, but a sword" - this is speaking of the sword [trouble] being raised against the righteous by the corrupt (who is destined for damnation) to which the return of Jesus and His army will battle.

When things are explained and put in context, it seems to drain all of "the hot air" out of the fun making, doesn't it?

The Lord would never make you make a choice. If, in your heart, you love Jesus, he knows it. But I do understand about leaving all you know behind if God askes. Could I do it on my own? Not sure. I would eventually have to find a way. Otherwise, there is no rest or peace. And you can not get to the next level without it. Hard as it is.

Personally, I think God is the only one that can judge the true measure of love...only he can accurately separate the love we have for others from the love we have for him...for me, it is all part of the same equation when it comes to my son.

I wonder if it is significant that the verse you mentioned didn't say "son, daughter". I can and have put my love for Jesus AND for my son above my love for my brother and my father. I can't even imagine a situation that would force me to put my love for Jesus above my love for my son...not saying it isn't possible, but they are so entwined in my mind I'm not capable of separating them to that extent.

Perhaps I can't compartmentalize because I view my son as a both a gift and a "talent"...God gave me my son but not permanently!...he entrusted me with the task of raising my son to serve God's purpose for him on this earth, whatever that purpose might be...essentially, my job is to multiply the talent he gave me to work with!

In essence, loving my son is loving Jesus...and loving Jesus is loving my son...but should there ever be a conflict, I would choose to trust Jesus and that involves trusting that he would take care of my child...who is, after all, God's child too!

christians believe in a god that was once pleased with animal blood sacrifices and then needed the blood to Jesus to wash sins......their beliefs are bronze age...don't ask them to make sense!

I certainly love Jesus more - afterall - he doesn't throw tantrums and force me to constantly discipline Him. He'll never tell me He hates me and He's 100% all the time loving me - even though I blow it. How could my kids measure up and beat that? However, I do have a calling and a responsibility to lead them to Christ and if that means they hate me - so be it. I'd rather have them hate me and turn to Jesus - than have everything their way and get caught up in the world and it's worthless idols.

Jesus.

If the word of God sickens you, then you walk with satan. God is our Father in Heaven who CREATED YOU! HE gave you life, not your mother. She was just the vessel. My children don't belong to me, they belong to Jesus. Just like I belong to Jesus. And I pray they love Him more than they love me. I want to see them in Heaven! In Heaven I won't be their parent anymore. They will have no need for me. They will have the Father, as will I. If you go to heaven, your relationship with your family on earth will not be as it is here. You will know one another, but will not remember your earthly life. We will ALL be brothers and sisters, and we will ALL be married to the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ. You don't understand the Bible, or Jesus. I pray you will come to know Him in this lifetime, so that you may come to LIVE with Him eternally in Heaven. God Bless
