That's a really "touchy" subject. (no pun intended!) He's ONLY 7! I wouldn't even want to BEGIN to lead you into a wrong direction with this one! I would suggest you talk with his pediatrician about it. Good Luck!=)

it is normal for him to discover himself children do at this age just make sure that because he is discovering himself that he isnt doing it in public or rub up on a girl which I have seen done plenty of times. Young boys begin exposing themselves and doing other things. We are all sexual creatures. Just make sure he doesnt try anything further. You should have the talk with him (may seem really embarrassing) about masterbation and sex because when they start showing the signs it is time to talk.

Edit

Have you noticed that children are become sexually active at a younger age. I have found out 10 year olds are experiencing things that I never tried until I was 19. That just makes me want to talk to them more

I was teaching Sunday school and a three year old was talking about touching himself. I was embarrassed of course. but it could be your son is not hitting puberty but is merely in the self-discovery process. he shouldn't hit puberty till 10-13. Most likely around 12.

He may be earlier than average but he's not abnormal. Do you have any male relative that you can turn to for help? Have them give him some fatherly advice.

Well, if he is entering puberty its not like he has any control.

You are probaly right, he probaly has disovered himself and that some things feel good. He is about second grade right?
Well, I would have a talk with him and let him know somethings, not everything, but just enough to let him know what is going on and not to do it out in public. Most elementary schools give that talk in 5th grade so if he is starting puberty now it might be best to let him in on somethings.

Im a girl and I remember about 3 to 4th grade my mom talking to me about somethings.

No, he's just in that exploration stage where he's discovering what feels good. My nephew was touching himself @ 3.

I wouldn't worry about it! He discovered it and it is normal, especially for boys!

It is not puberty yet! It is curiosity!

I will be very honest with you, if you mean masturbating, then i was doing that at 5years old, don't worry about it, unless of course he starts doing it in front of people, then you may have to explain to him that it is the sort of thing done in private.
