"Weaning" off Effexor shouldn't take very long/ I was on it for years and had very little noticeable side effects during that time.. You should make sure your doctor is involved in the process. He can prescribe something for pain if you need it. I was taking hydrocode for other pain problems during that time, and that's probably what helped me.

Advil, Tylenol, Excedrin, Motrin are all good pain relievers when take correctly. Your doctor should be able to prescribe you something to take, since headaches are a sign of withdrawl from some drugs.

Benadryl (diphenhydramine) will ease the side effects. Though of course it will make you woozy, that's what Benadryl does.

Make sure to drink plenty of water and take a multi-vitamin and/or a B vitamin supplement.
