I have never used a rent to own or looked at there contract. But I would say your safe. They should not be able to brake in to your home and steal your furniture That sounds like a scare tactic.
I had a friend once tell me he stoped paying for his tv from aarons and they just took him to court after 180 days

Nope, that would be illegal. It's a civil matter, the sherriff will tell them the same. The sherriff will not assist anyone breaking into a house, that is breaking and entering. If you are home and they show up, you do have the right to tell them to remove themselves from the property. If they do not, then it is trespassing, regardless of whether you have the furniture or not. The previous poster is wrong, it is not stealing if you do not make a payment. You have a signed contract, therefor you are responsible for it and it is your property. The same with a car, however, a car can be repossessed after a couple of months of no payments. If you start to make payments again, legally they cannot do anything because you are honoring the signed contract with them. However, they can probably charge you late fees depending on what that contract says.

They can repo the furniture, however they need to acquire a court order. This is a slow process and will take around 90 days. In the meantime, either try to catch up or return the furniture. Once you have a repo on your credit report, any future transactions to acquire an asset will be close to if not impossible.
By the way, the sheriff does not repo the furniture, a representative of the company will do this with the sheriff overlooking. You will be personally notified of the event and able to be present to protect your other assets. They must have an inventory sheet showing what they are taking.

Nope I asked about this because I am late too, all they can do is report you to collections.
They are usuing a scare tactic. They said I couldn't be late and I said too bad I will be, and they have to accept that. It's not like this furniture is gold, It's second hand crap.
They can be arrested for comming into your house. That is against the law.

No. Not at all. It is a civil matter. If you continue to get hassled like this call an attny. There are a few laws on the books out there about that type of collection practise i`m sure the attny can fill you in on.

They can not enter your home without you being there However they will come with a sheriff and will continue to come until they are able to take possession. I will warn you though IF they do this Get some PROOF and keep it that the items were in fact returned to them
I had a experience with rent a center they waited two years and then added it to my credit claiming they never got it back
Of course after 2 years I had no proof any longer so hold on to it for a few years.
Seriously though you need to return it in time it will become a bigger headache than it is and If you rent they may actually go get a key from the landlord and gain entrance and get their stuff if you ain't paying then it is rightfully theirs and after a while they may come after you for theft They locked my neighbor up for it went to his job and got him he claimed he no longer lived there and could not return it to them and they locked him up for stealing it

If the sheriff comes to your house they don't need a lock smith, just kick the door in.
Don't let them scare you, be nice but firm know your rights.
You ll be okay
