Ask about hobbies. For instance, do they play a musical instrument? Ask if they are in any school activities and how they like these clubs, teams, etc. Talk about what movies, music, television shows they like. Did they always live where they live now? What was their old neighborhood like?

When I talk to guys, it's usually about stuff we have in common. [I skate, they skate etc.]
But you, being a girly girl, have to depend on your looks to start a conversation.
