I just saw it on A&E, and even though I viewed it believing it was intended to be slanted against Christianity, I still found it to be disturbing, and as a Christian I am embarrassed by the way these people behave and by what they said. I am also wondering why a woman who has never married and never had children (as far as my own research has shown) is allowed to rape these children of their childhoods by yelling at them, calling them "phony hypocrites", and engaging them in extremely adults-only issues like abortion and war. My question is, what did you think of this?

I am an atheist.

I am very impressed that everyone here has taken a positive stance and answered with honesty.

with everyone calling each other hypocrites, it's not easy to be honest

It has been my experience on these forums that many people are too quick to judge others and too slow to judge themselves. (on both sides)

I may not have faith in god, but I have renewed faith in people

thanks

They're innocent...the fanatics are repulsive. I had the "pleasure" of attending an event for children that my religious neighbors invited us to attend.

This invitation was on the surface sincere enough, as far as no religion involved. Just a strong man competition for entertainment.

Well, as soon as we arrived...the weekend warriors were in full swing, praising and preaching. The act was an excuse for these ex-pro and college football players to make money.

I was understood the whole deal as soon as the "heros" started preaching about how they had been converted to religion...for lack of a better word...at age 12....because they had sinned and realized they were forever condemned at that age...unless they accepted "GOD".

I was distubed also, the fact that these phonies were more than insinuating that the CHildren in the audience were sinners made me shake my head.

I also saw the Jesus Camp fiasco on AandE. Any parent who sends thier most prized treasure to an environment like that is asking for more problems than they can handle.

Be a good person and believe in what you like...

I was just watching this and I was freaked out! Borders on brainwashing techniques and serious child abuse! I was raised in a Christian household and attended rallies and summer camp but it was age-appropriate and good clean fun and fellowship. I still remember those days fondly. This was nothing like I remember and I can't help wondering if some of these children will grow up to believe Cult practises were used on them!

I'm a Bapticostal, but that was even too much for me!
At times I was thinking, "OK, thats not so bad."
Then, "What the heck are they doing to those poor kids!"
I used to think the Jesus Camp idea was a good one.
But that was before I actually saw what goes on.
I think it is fine for parents to share their faith, even commendable.
But this was just beyond what is appropriate.

I was watching it too. I think some of it was very disturbing. I don't think it is right to discuss war and abortion with children they way they did. I was thinking to myself when they handed out those little babies to those children that, first that's not what they look like at 7 wks and what will one of those girls think if they get raped and wind up pregnant? I hope nothing like that will ever happen, but what then? I am not for abortion for birth control, but having that choice if something horrable happens is important to me. It made me question a lot of things about our societies and views. Which one of us are right or wrong? Just mind boggling.

I found it disturbing and creepy. It is one thing to teach your children about God and the Bible, and to bring them up in your faith, but that was simply manipulating children with emotional theatrics. When the emotional high wears off, these kids will be left pretty empty handed. They won't even really know the Bible, as there was very little actual Bible education. Sad to say, but I bet most of those kids will turn there backs on God and the Bible by the time they are 20 , confusing God and his Word with that meaningless crap.

Brainwashing 101

yeah...that is a pretty messed up show. i hate when people are brainwashed. no offence but my personal opinion all religion and the way we we everything we do is brainwash. think about it...if you were born in a tribe in africa you wouldnt even know what christianity is...so you would deserve to go to hell? if a child is born and isnt introduced to society he wouldnt know anything about religion or the way people live there lives in general. someone can preach there head off, but the only reason people are the religion they are and do the things they do is becasue they were raised that way. if anyone wants to further discuss this contact me on yahoo messenger joshuarivera86@yahoo.com :) hope to hear from you.

Oh, I was just watching that too! I found it very interesting even though I wouldn't consider myself a Christian.
But after a while I changed the channel, because it was just starting to get a little creepy...saying the pledge to a Christian flag before dinner? Weird imo.
