I would give your hair a rest because damage builds up. that what happened to me.. anyways I would go darker to over the light ends because going lighter is more harsh but the reddish tint won't last because red is a hard color without fading.

Really I think it depends on your skin tone. Reddish colors often go best with lighter skin tones. And personally, I prefer red and brown over blond any day. Often you can tell when someone shouldn't be a blond because it doesn't go with their skin, or their eyes are dark.

If you are just looking for a color change, you should go lighter. It is easier to correct if you don't like it. If you go darker, and don't like it, it is really hard to lighten.

Start out lighter. It is easier to adjust down darker, than to lighten.

do you know any one with wigs you can try before doing it
to see what colour suits you the best, dont go too light or dark at first in case you dont like it , you will have to do it gradually any way as you may end up with bizzar colours if you try to go to much colour at once

Go lighter. If you have gray ... it will help cover it up. Plus I always heard that blondes have more fun.
