I've been their. Seems like you miss the past, why? because your afraid to move on to the present. It's not about the Future or past, it's about the present time. TODAY, this minute, this second! What you do this very second will carry on with you do the next second and so on. I know how you feel about your mother- but you must stop thinking about her getting older- take the time that's left and make the best use of it.
Remember "Today is a check- cash it! Tmrw is a gift cherious it"- Sometimes in life everything seems wonderful but suddenly a change happens and we start to drift off to the past. You must adapt to the present NOT the past. The past may be great but live for today not for the past!- you will have greater memories if you live for today because it will become part of your past. Move on with life and enjoy it! Think postive- find a wife, get children, enjoy, live, breathe and live with purpose. Don't put yourself down like that...your 34- you have many many years to be of great service to this world. to find happiness YOU must create it- money and material things can't! Take something your passionate about, write down your goal, read it everyday, pray for the good and once you achieve that you will find happiness. may life bring you all blessings and peace...

I understand what you mean. But isn't there a peculiar beauty in the shortness of life and in the impermanence of all our human things? We're like a brilliant flash of light or a sunset. Here for only a short time, but no less beautiful and exciting for our brief stay. And yet life goes on anyhow - even though you and I are here for a short time, the world keeps turning, the sun keeps burning, and time keeps flowing. We're privileged to get to be here on this planet for our little lifespans, and we can choose to be sad about how short our lives feel or we can choose to appreciate every precious hour that we have, and use our time to try to make the world a better place for the human lives that will be here after us (as well as the nonhuman lives we share our world with).
Hugs! I know how you feel, but I don't see it as emptiness. I see it as opportunity and wonder.

Been there. Uhh that was bad if you want it to go away you have to stop thinking about it and find a hobby or obsession that will prevent you from thinking about it. Like the old saying goes within death there is life. Can I have a cookie?

This earthly life isn't all there is. There is eternal life through Jesus Christ, if you so choose to accept Him. He is the Blessed Hope we Christians wait for. We long for the day we will be with Him. What have you got to look forward to? What do you believe in besides this mortal life?

Living in fear of the future or of change takes the joy out of life. Yes, it is dust in the wind, but you have each and every day to treasure and live. Do so wisely.
Edit:
It is your choice whether to live lamenting each day or living it.
