Pope John Paul II. I may be a little biased, but he took great leaps forward in peace and tolerance with other religions--Benedict XXVI has stepped backwards in those terms, example being resurrecting that old mass that "prays for the stubborn hearts of the Jews."

In my personal belief, it is Pope John Paul II. He is such a great person. Although it is not right to compare them right now. How can we compare 2 -year papacy of Benedict XVI to John Paul II's 26-year papacy reign?

They are both have the ability to lead the Church. They both have the wisdom to defend the Christian faith, and they have both the courage to lead the Church into the new millenium.
.
What makes John Paul II better than Pope Benedict XVI is his strong charisma. But in wisdom, sanctity and faith, they are equal and worthy to be Succesors of Peter.

Pope John Paul II. He worked towards tolerance. Benedict is trying to start up another Inquisition and looks like the living dead.

Pope John Paul II. I grew up with the man as my spiritual leader. He was an awesome witness to Jesus Christ. In ALL aspects of his life, he gave it ALL up for Christ. I admired his example to live the message of Jesus.

Pope Benedict XVI. I think he is a good and humble man. He is doing many good things for the Body of Christ. He simply has not been in the Ministry of Peter for that long, to have the impact on peoples lives as much as JPII. He is a good and decent man. God Bless him and his ministry.

Better at what?

Raising money?

Deceiving more people?

Deceiving people better?

In my opinion the Catholic church is more a hinderance than a help to the cause of spreading Christianity simply because it's NOT Christianity. It's Catholicism.

John Paul II, he struck me as being compassionate, not Benny.

You think the new one is good? He's persecuting people of another religion, getting his cronies to perform 'exorcisms'. Is that a good thing? It's the same as the Inquisition and Witch Trials! Any-one who says that what he's doing is 'good' is a sick person indeed.

Why should it be a contest?

The Holy Spirit selected Pope John Paul II for one time in history and Pope Benedict for another time in history.

We should trust God that He (or She) knows what He is doing.

With love in Christ.

Hello, Lan:

One can best discover what Rome is, by discovering what they were. Yes, Rome has not changed, and the Reformers would jump in their coffins if they knew the inroads Rome is making in Protestantism.
