Nope, you are so definitely NOT alone here. I enjoy a quiet evening at home. I attend a NewYearsEve service at my church and then am home before 9pm, safe and sound, and thanking God for the new year. Sometimes, if I've not dozed off, I actually call a couple of relatives and wish them a good new year. But not the last couple years. I'm usually asleep by then.
One year - long ago and far away - my friend and I ended up at a nice bar in a big city, because we were lost in the snow and couldn't find the party we were going to. It was the most depressing place we'd ever been to. Countdown was so bleak. But we did get to pray for them, so it wasn't a total loss. Never been back to a bar since then.

I know so many people who would rather stay in on New Years or just hang out with friends at someones house for the night. It is so highly overrated now a days and cost too much. Most places charge a over that is over $50, then you need an outfit, money for drinks and food and a ride home. So you are looking at a few hundred bucks to spend right after Christmas. So don't worry there are many people that feel the same as you. I am going to be doing the same just hang out at home with my roommate and I think we might rent a few movies.

Nope, I haven't "celebrated" New Years Eve in about 10 yrs (mainly because I seem to always be working on that day). The days I'm not working I will watch the East Coast's New Years countdown and then go to be (central time zone here).

I have NEVER cared about New Year's Eve. I would never go out with my wife just to hang around strangers and get drunk. But in recent years we have got together with old friends. Its kind of a good excuse for everyone to get together. So I have got into it more. But I have also enjoyed many quiet New Year's Eves, watching TV and going to bed early.

I'll be home with my husband and 2 kids. We're having some friends over, a small gathering and then after they leave I'm sure we'll watch the ball drop (if we stay awake that late) and go to bed. I'm so glad I'm not going out....I'm happy to stay in the comfort of my own home.
Hope everyone has a great 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!

No. That's fine.
New year's day has always been a very special day to me. I see it as the celebration of renewal. I actually do plan on drinking on New Year's day, but I'd prefer to be alone. New year's day is the most important holiday of the year as far as I'm concerned. It's a day to take stock of the year gone by and to look at the year ahead and where you want to be.
Cheers! Happy New Year!

I have my days and nights backward, so I will be up for the New Year, but I never, ever, ever spend time around loud, drunken people! There is just no fun in that anyway.
Have a Great New Year!!!!!
