We don't believe in any god. That's the only thing all atheists have in common. From there it varies.
Atheists can believe in ghosts, fairies, an afterlife - anything at all, and so long as they don't believe in a god, they're still atheists.
Many Buddhists are atheists, and this is also true of some other Eastern religions. Not all atheists are Buddhists, however. LaVeyan Satanism is also an atheistic religion. They do not believe in a god, nor do they believe in Satan. Satan is used as a symbol to them, and is not believed to be an actual being.
Some atheists consider themselves spiritual. I do, actually.
The "spirit" to me is simply your mind, your feelings, who you are. I do not believe in a spirit in the sense of an eternal soul which survives death.
Anything that stimulates my mind, awakens my senses, or brings out emotions in me is a spiritual experience, in my opinion. Things like music, art, love, friendship, etc.
I have beliefs, most people do. My beliefs just don't have anything to do with the supernatural. I believe in appreciating the little things in life, I believe in freedom, I believe in personal responsibility, I believe in love.

I am not an atheist, but I have friends who are. There are actually several types of atheism. Atheists like Richard Dawkins believe that there is no God or supernatural force in the universe, that everything can be explained through the laws of physics and random chance, and that there is no afterlife. There are agnostics who reason that because they can't know there is a God, they might as well live as though God doesn't exist, because God seems, to them, illogical. Some Buddhists, especially Theravada Buddhists, are atheistic. They believe in dharma, karma, and reincarnation, but there is no personal God as westerners conceptualize Him. There are actually several atheistic religions. Jainism teaches that since there is no god, humans must act behave ethically towards one another and this planet. In short, atheism is not one set of beliefs, but a blanket term for any number of worldviews that do not include any gods.

I used to be an atheist. I pity God for being blamed for anything that doesn't satisfy human being. God is not the answer for everything. It simply doesn't make any sense.
Now I'm a Buddhist. In Buddhism, we don't really care if this 'God' really exists or not. You have to believe in yourself to achieve any goals in your life, and also to liberate yourself out of suffering. But some Buddhists I know do believe in God, though. It might have something to do with the need of every human being to feel protected.
'God' may exist. Buddhists just don't really think it matters that much.

Atheists, by definition, don't believe in any god. The word comes from two roots: 'A', or "against", and "theo", which relates to divine powers. While I'm sure that you could call yourself an atheist and find a spiritual group of some sort that wouldn't specifically offend you non-belief, typically atheists don't believe in anything at all beyond the concrete world in which we live.

there's a difference. Atheist- does not have self belief in God (denies existence of God/Gods/Supernatural beings). Agnostic- Is kinda independent on the completed undertaking. as quickly as there is evidence helping the two area, agnostics tend to pass to that area. They admit they do no longer comprehend and in all probability by no skill will. And in case you won't be in a position to pass with the aid of an afternoon without God, you may desire to particularly purely attempt. it extremely is greater handy then you definately think of. in my opinion, I purely use the greater suitable situation fixing, severe thinking, reasoning and good judgment skills that I particularly have as a human to get for the duration of the day.

The word atheist means "without belief." So how can we tell you what we believe in? We DO NOT have a book telling us what not to believe, we just don't. We don't have a book of rules or criteria.
There's no reason for an atheist to lie about it, so if you get answers that say atheists have religions or beliefs, it's probably a religious person trying to put words in our mouths.

Atheists don't really believe in anything at all. And no, they aren't Buddhist. Buddhism is believed to be "philosophies influenced by the teachings of Siddharta Gautama", also known as Guatama Buddha. Check out wikipedia's article on atheism. It explains it pretty well. Basically, atheists either reject that there is a God, or affirms the nonexistence of a god, so they don't believe there is a higher power.

There is only one feature that atheists have in common. Atheists do not believe in a supernatural deity. Period. That's where all similarities end.
There are atheist liberals, libertarians, anarchists, facists, conservatives, kooks, radicals, intellectuals, heroes, villains, idiots, fanatics, role-models, and all other sorts of people you can imagine. We have all the foibles and complexities that come with being human. The disbelief in any kind of supernatural deity is the one thing that applies to all of us.
Oh, wait. There is one more thing. Being alternately hated and/or pitied by the theists who cannot imagine life without an imaginary sky daddy hovering over their shoulders commanding them to "BEHAVE OR ELSE!"

I believe in all of the real stuff around us - the trees and streets and air and cats and dogs and people and cars and the wind and the snow and matter and energy and so on.
I don't believe in gods or Barney Rubble or orbiting teapots or invisible pink unicorns.
It's really very straightforward, sensible, and easy to understand.

Atheists say they don't believe in a God yet they do, but not in the context of a traditional religion.
Some worship at the altar of Hedonism(aka sex and pleasure), others at the altar of Human Secularsim(man is god and there is no other god), others at the altar of the god of avarice and greed, others at the altar of gluttony others worship at the altar of Sports and sports stars and others do good and love their neighbor just as God has commanded all of His children even if they don't believe in a god which is saying more than those who claim to believe in God even though they don't keep the commandments of God and stick their noses up in the air to those who claim to be atheists.
Atheists, the god you worship is the object you put the most time and effort and devotion into. So, in a broader sense of understanding that a god is a person, place or thing to put all your time, effort, talent and devotion into there is no such thing as an Atheist in the purest sense of the word. Even atheists worship some sort of impirically sensible god as I have listed in the beginning of this answer.
I hope this helps.
