I'm watching the Jesus Camp now and was wondering your take on it. Now grant it, it is about to go off, but I find it Highly Offenseive in the testament of God.
When the teacher and the children speak in supposed tounges, do they know what they are saying, for that matter, do the others know what they are saying?....I could not understand them, thus they did me no good and pass No information on to me.
What is the deal with saying a pledge to the flag in a matter that they did, or to make a pledge to the Bible in the way that they did?
Those on here who know me by my answers, know that I'm a Beleiver in God, but have many of Christians and Atheists alike who do not like my answers., but I must say that this program was wrong in the teachings that God wants.
What are your thoughts on this issue and or way of teaching the children about God?
Thanks
and Blessings to all

sorry wanted to add this
The teacher on there says that Harry Potter is wrong, but asks the children how her hair looks, how her nails look, and how the rest of her look....that itself is Vanity, which is wrong
Then she refers herself as feeling like she is on the cover of The Rolling Stones, so tell me which book is bad?
sorry, I know this is long, so forgive me my ranting on
Just don't understand
peace

Don't hate Pentecostals and charismatics. We are bible believing Christians. Is speaking in tongues only for Bible times?
This is a theological question, not an ethical dilemma. The Bible is God's inspired, inerrant Word representing Absolute Truth and
our final authority in all matters because it works in our lives!
Let us focus on unity within the body of Christ. God judges the heart, not just the tounge!!!
I have prayed in toungues and seen miracles result.
I pray in toungues even more in private (so you know I do believe it is of God). I feel I am freeing my mind to pray wordlessly, even while driving, without concentrating on sentence structure, or clever wording.
I do believe tounges, as in the book of Acts, are for today too. God is the same yesterday, today and forever.
The bible says toungue will cease. The issue between us is when. Either way, the Holy Spirit translates our prayers clearly.
Even when we mis speak accidentally. as in saying a different name than the correct one for the person we are praying about, God gives us the desires of our HEART.
If we are wrong, at least our hearts are right.
God judges the heart. Rather than hate us, kindly remove the speck in your own eye.
May you find the new year to be happy, healthy and prosperous.
God bless us, every one.

I find it highly offensive also, and it certainly does not speak for Christianiy as a whole. Some people just go too far and go beyond what the Bible teaches. I get concerned because I have been a Christian for over 60 years and have seen how this movement has digressed from the Bible overmy lifetime and I wonder just how much farther they will go before some of them get locked up.

Wow.. Sounds interesting. I haven't watched it but I did see the previews.. Sounds pretty much like they are teaching against the teachings of God, that's pretty scary !
What you described about the whole Harry Potter thing does sound like vanity, and that is definitely wrong..What makes it even more wrong is that it is on national television, and people who are not Christians are going to have a bad outlook on Christians..That's a shame !
I wish I could have more input on this.. maybe I will watch it and get back to ya !
God Bless :)

Haven't watched it...I've heard vague references to it on here but don't have a clue what it is...is it a movie, TV show, youtube video??? ...in any case, thanks for the warnings, sounds like something I'd find shallow and commercialized.
I had to comment on your observation about the woman asking about her nails and hair...made me recall an experience I had at what could be called a "Jesus camp" nearly 30 years ago. They disguised it as a "Christian charm school"...designed to help young ladies (teens) learn to be more "ladylike" and thus "honor God". I still vividly remember the teacher, a Tammy Faye Baker look-alike (with much better taste in makeup but a similar persona), telling me that I would never be a lady unless I stopped biting my nails...I stopped paying attention at that moment because I knew in my heart that being a lady had nothing to do with my nails or hair or makeup! Looking back, I probably could have learned something valuable about those things...stuff I didn't learn until much later...too bad she had to turn me (and perhaps others) off by taking such a shallow judgmental approach!

I'm a Catholic Christian who's never seen it and probably will never see it. I have seen the trailers for it and it really concerns me. On the one hand I'm glad that they present Jesus with boldness. But on the other, I'm a bit concerned at how they go about it. Granted, since I haven't seen it I can only make generalizations but from what I've heard and from the little I've seen I think it will bring about more harm then good.
St. Francis of Assisi once said, "Always preach the Gospel, and sometimes use words."

I'm neither a believer in Christianity nor a watcher of Jesus Camp, but your statement about the teacher and kids speaking in tongues doesn't make sense... Glossolalia isn't usually understood by those hearing it or speaking it...that's sort of the point of it. Those doing it are typically speaking in an unknown language... What sort of information are you thinking they'll pass on to you? What makes you think that these particular people would speak in tongues in a more understandable fashion than previous people??

Anyone can call themself a Christian, and do unholy things in the name of God. That doesn't make them a Christian. The Bible tells us that we will be known by our "fruits" and these people are not showing any fruits of the spirit which are; Kindness, Gentleness, Self-control, patience, compassion, forgiveness, etc. If one doesn't show any of these "fruits" then they are not true Christians. God Bless

I have never seen Jesus Camp, so here is my opinion on your question, just from reading what you typed. The ability to speak in tongues or interpret tongues are both gifts of the spirit. Some people can do one, the other, or both. Not everyone can do one, the other or either. Most people who have the gift of tongues do not know they are speaking in tongues when they do so.

it is a farce.
nowhere in the Bible does it say at all, that we should take up any form of radical aggression against anyone because of what they believe.... THAT IS NOT OUR JOB AS CHRISTIANS.
all this is doing is warping the teachings of Jesus Christ. the darkest lies sound most like the truth. don't be fooled.

I think that movie was scary and just shows the extremes that people are willing to go to in their faith. It truly does scare me that some people think that way. And no, they were not actually saying anything when speaking in lounges they were just babbling incoherently b/c they felt that it was the right thing to do. They felt pressured to be able to speak in tongues so they did so. That's what speaking in lounges is. It is not real and it doesn't mean anything.
