Creation
God created the universe in six literal, twenty-four-hour periods. We reject evolution, the Gap Theory, the Day-Age Theory, and Theistic Evolution as unscriptural theories of origin.
"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said," Genesis 1:1-3
"For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it." Exodus 20:11
Either the Bible is 100% correct or 100% wrong. If it's wrong, what are you wasting you time going to church for? Because when did God appoint you to decide what's right and what's wrong in it? When did the Lord need these "Bible correctors" to "help" Him "straighten-out" His word?
"...let God be true, but every man a liar;" Romans 3:4 "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." John 17:17
"...Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God." Matthew 22:29

Yes you can, of course.
Jesus spoke in parables all the time. Jesus used metaphor. Metaphors are all over the Bible -- it doesn't matter if Genesis is literally true or metaphorically true, the important thing is that truth is there and that truth remains continuous from the beginning to the end of the Bible.
If we take every word as *literally* true, then Jesus said, "I am the vine, you are the branches..." Are we really to believe that Jesus is literally a vine and we are literally branches? Metaphor.
The church is the bride and Jesus the bridegroom. Are we to believe that the church and Jesus are literally going to have a husband/wife relationship and all that implies?
Taking Genesis metaphorically or saying it is open to interpretation does not in any way deny the divinity of Jesus Christ. Anyone who says otherwise is Pharasaical in their legalism.

You can interpret Genesis literally or figuratively. Jesus did use a figurative speech and in I Peter (I think), it does say a day for God maybe a 1000 years for us.
Personally I do believe there were dinosaurs yet I dont believe that we came from ape-like creatures.
Funny, not too long ago a dinosaur fossil was found and they were able to determine that it was a female. How? The hips in females are wider than males.....wait a minute....if evolution truly occurred and these dinosaurs were around millions of years ago, couldnt you say that the experts could NOT tell if the dinosaur was male or female because the wider hips hasnt evolve yet? hmmmmm.....

Your question is confusing if not difficult. Well here is an attempt .Many see christianity divided into two parts- the theory and practice. In theory all know about it by only reading literature on it -not always only christians -any of other belief. In practice - the other side of the story -how many they are on this planet -mean the practising ones?
Now that 'creationism' you talk of-is it not part of evolution?Go to history very very far back before the coming of christianity for a reflection exercise, my dear. Happy new year 2008!

How can you believe that Jesus was divine, yet not believe that he created Adam as a full grown man?
Do you know that allegorizing Genesis doesn't come from studying the Holy Bible, but from the Talmud?

are we really going to do this everytime. heart surgery isnt in the bible, does heart surgery exist? lets argue about it for 200 years. If your a true christian, do you still believe that the earth is the center of the solar system, or the galaxy? do you still believe that the stars just hang there? why not? isnt it in the bible?
arent you typing on a computer? the bible doesnt mention it....
if youre really going to take what the bible says too far, its going to contradict with EVERYTHING you believe in.

Wow, then I would have to say you haven't been paying attention to the hundreds and hundreds of debates on the topic - including those that believe that if the Bible is not inerrant, then the whole faith collapses and attack science as if science is built the same way.

Absolutely...
Everyone else can say what ever they believe, buy here you can watch and listen for yourself, a Christian lecturing on evolution in a Christian College...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVRsWAjvQSg
This is a lecture from a devoutly Christian Scientist, Dr. Ken Miller given to a very receptive Christian College.
It is a long piece, but fascinating. He not only talks about evolution but he also talks about Intelligent Design particularly in regards to a trial in Dover Pa.
He also wrote a book called "Finding Darwin’s God" which has become a best seller.
I highly recommend the youtube and the book, very informative and very interesting... He is a wonderful teacher
And besides, no one has the authority to speak for God, and only God and your heart can tell you what a "true Christian" is
.Who do you think the people are who are giving me a thumbs down for simply showing you that there are a lot of Christians out there who also accept evolution. Are they they "true Christians" ?

Yes!!!Don't listen to the Bible thumpers they are just trying to be superior. I am a follower or Christ and I do not see any problem with evolution. I believe God is the "first mover" and set all that is into motion. Genesis is mans way of interpreting that action in a way that the men of its time could process it. It is a myth which teaches that God is the creator. The rest is simply interpretation by very VERY uneducated fundamentalists drones who are afraid to think outside the pulpit. These idiots give me a pain in my brain because they make intelligent followers of Christ look really stupid.
