What can be cooked with rice so that they will be properly cooked when the rice cooker finishes boiling the rice? I'm thinking of adding dried mushrooms though I'm not sure how they will taste.

Try this:
INGREDIENTS
1 cup uncooked long-grain rice
1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed French onion soup
1 (10.5 ounce) can beef broth
1 (4 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained
1/4 cup butter

mushrooms are okay, but many add-ins I'd suggest stirring into the cooked rice.

Cook your rice in stock or broth for more flavor.

Stir in things like (pick 1-2): dry cranberries, toasted pecans, toasted walnuts, toasted pine nuts (pignolis), chopped fresh parsley, sauteed mushrooms and onions, frozen green peas (they will thaw just from the heat and be perfect!), or even small shreds of fresh carrot (heat will steam it).
