You should cut your hair, but just ask for a trim. Cutting them won't make them worse, cutting them just get's rid of it.

This can make the hair appear less smooth and also cause more tangles in longer hair. I have split ends too. You can get rid of it by cutting the hair one inch above the split. Be sure to have a hair cut about every three to four months. Avoid hair-damaging activities like using a curling iron or blow-drying. Never brush wet hair. This creates too much strain on the hair, particularly when it is either medium or long in length. Instead, reduce split ends, by combing through the hair with a wide-toothed comb. Use detangler spray on stubborn tangles instead of pulling hard on the hair. Split ends can occur if one spends too much time in the sun, or in heated and dry environments indoors. Outside, one can protect hair from split ends and excess drying by wearing a wide-brimmed hat, except when one needs the hair to be perfect for a special day or event. Regular conditioning helps to reduce dryness from arid conditions indoors. You won’t get rid of all split ends with these procedures, but gentle care of the hair can certainly be of help. Brittle hair that has not been damaged by sun, or using hair dyes, may be a sign of poor overall heath. I know this is kinda a lot but I hope this helps and I know what it feels like to have split ends 'cause I have tons of it. It's irritating isn't it? Well hope this helps. :D

Trimming is the best way to combat split ends. Most likely, the splitting would not require cutting more than a half an inch.
Otherwise, consider getting a leave in conditioner or heavier conditioner to use once or twice a week on your ends to help repair. Try to shampoo less often as well.

no it does not get worse..
you should trim it every 2 months..
now most ppl just cut an inch off but I dont..
I take 1/4 of my hair at a time..
twist all the way down....
and there will be hair stickin out going all the way up..
so cut just a lil bit off of every hair you see.
sounds weird but it works..
also..
at the ends...
cut upwards.....
in a way..
lol.. i hope maybe you understood some of that...
I do my neighbors hair.. so I do know what I speak of..lol
Good luck
:]

Cutting off the damaged ends is good, it will make your hair more healthy. For fixing them if they aren't really bad try the herbal essence shampoo and conditioner or split ends (I think it's Bye Bye Breakups or something similar) it worked really well for me!

The BEST way is to trim them off.
1] use proper shampoo, conditioner for your type hair
2] press out excess water from hair, then wrap/blot with towel - do NOT rub - wet hair is very fragile
3] comb out tangles with a wide tooth comb - never brush wet hair
4] do not blow dry/straighten/curl with heat every day
5] use a deep conditioner every month
6] avoid styling products with alcohol in them

There's only one way to get rid of them. Trim them off. I have heard though that if you're pulling at them & ripping them off on your own, (like I sit & do sometimes) then that's when they get worse - cause you're further lengthening the breakage.
