Well Microsoft did include a software compatibility program to let older ones run, but it is hidden. What you have to do is right click the program and go down to properties. Then in the compatibility section you change it for the settings for that program.

Many software manufacturers prepared themselves for Vista compatibility and have "fixes" that you can download. I found that HP had a fix for my problem.
Vista also has a "compatibility wizard" which might help.
Make Older Programs Run in this Version of Windows (Vista)

Most programs written for Windows XP also work in this version of Windows, but some older programs might run poorly or not at all. If a program written for an earlier version of Windows doesn't run correctly, use the Program Compatibility Wizard to change the compatibility settings for the program. To change settings for a program manually, use the individual program's Compatibility tab.
If changing the settings does not fix the problem, go to the program manufacturer's website to see if there is an update for the program.
Caution: Do not use the Program Compatibility Wizard on older antivirus programs, disk utilities, or other system programs because it might cause data loss or create a security risk.
Run the Program Compatibility Wizard
1. Open the Program Compatibility Wizard by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Programs, and then clicking Use an older program with this version of Windows.
2. Follow the instructions in the wizard.
If you cannot install a program, insert the installation disc for the program and, using the wizard, browse to the program's setup file, usually called Setup.exe, Install.exe, or something similar. The wizard is not designed to work on programs that have an .msi file name extension.
To change compatibility settings manually for a program, right-click the icon for the program, click Properties, and then click the Compatibility tab.
Go to the source link for more information.

You catch on fast. That is part of the Game so that it forces all users to buy new sofware and in some cases hardware that is compatible because the old stuff won't work.
This isn't true in all cases but most.
Always check the software manufactures site first, several have updated there software to work with Vista, while others will lag way behind and some won't do anything at all and force you to buy there newer version.

I have a XP desktop and a Vista laptop. I am hoping that they will come out with this in the near future, because I am having to purchase all new programs for the laptop that I can use on the desktop.

I'm not really sure. I tired installing World Of Warcraft on my computer, which has Vista, and it wouldn't work. All I can say is I'd rather have Windows XP then Vista because it's very different and I am stilling having problems with it.

scrap everything we had & start over...well, most everything, you may be able to get patches for your old games somewhere on the internet, then copy your file to the new computer, you still have to reinstall it, but it might work, but vista itself won't make a patch like that, why? because that would be too easy lol

i think of that's positive as i heard from my pal that the venture is that if the computer's os is purely too old for the sport, no longer too new. and seeing as domicile windows 7 is the latest one on the 2d, that's meant to be waiting to be properly suited with all video games. yet once you're rather frightened, then think of two times or examine with somebody concerning to the particular game which you're determining to purchase till now you purchase it!
