I honestly thinnk it is fine as long as they aren ot having sex.

not because I think that is gross or bad, but because if something happens and they get into a fight she can take him to court.

Also, if the parents find out and dont like him, they can also take him to court.

when i was 12 i dated a guy that was 3 years older than me. he was 15. almost 3 years exactly.

we dated for 3 and a half years, but we never had sex or anything.. but still. there was nothing wrong with it!

So, as long as she's smart about what she does, and doesn't **** him over, or **** him at all for that matter, i don't see a problem with it.

and like i said, i'm not against the sex, i'm just concerned with people getting in trouble, getting mad, getting hurt, etc.

EDIT: FOR THOSE OF YOU SAYING IT IS ILLEGAL = IT IS NOT ILLEGAL FOR THEM TO DATE! IT IS ILLEGAL FOR HIMT O HAVE SEX WITH HER. ALSO, YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THIS PERSON LIVES, IT COULD BE LEGAL IN THAT STATE, REGARDLESS.

BUT LIKE I SAID, TELLING SOMEONE THEY CAN GO TO JAIL FOR LIKING/KISSING/HOLDING HANDS/GOING TO THE MOVIES/ ETC (WHICH IS WHAT YOU DO WHEN YOU DATE) IS WRONG.

DATING IS NOT ILLEGAL IT IS JUST 'FROWNED UPON' BY SOCIETY.

WHICH IN MY OPPINION IS BULL CRAP.

EDIT NUMBER 2:
IT IS ONLY STATUTORY RAPE IF HE DOES SOMETHING SEXUAL TO HER. HIM TOUCHING HER ON THE SHOULDER, OR KISSING HER, IS FINE AS LONG AS SHE CONSENTS. LIKE I SAID, I WOULD JUST WATCH OUT FOR TEH SEX BUT EVERYTHING ELSE SHOULD BE FINE.

I honestly don't feel it is acceptable for an 18 year old to date a 14 year old. I feel that an 18 year old is or at least should be at a different level in life/maturity than someone who is 14. Your friend may think that she is mature enough to date someone four years older but I doubt it. I'm not going to come out and say it's definite that this boy will be trying to get your friend to have sex (if they already haven't), but the chances are up there that he will.

I also think that this guy should check out the state law on dating a minor. Last I knew some states consider their age difference against the law.

Even if all intentions are good - and the attraction is genuine, multi-faceted - even wholesome (though I don't care much about that), the 18 year old is going to be judged.

It sucks - but at the same time, the "yuck" factor is there because this sorta thing has gone SOO wrong before.

In many ways, being 18 means you're old enough to get into trouble, but not old enough to know it - or handle it when it comes.

Avoid questionable situations with the jailbait! 14 'll getcha 20!

And to the 14 year old: do you feel safe? Are you attracted to the boy (oh, sorry, "man") or his age?

are you talkin about a friend or are you talkin about yourslelf? well either way i think that she should becareful cuz sometimes men act all nice and are after one thing only...the girl is 14 he is 18 he might be brain washing her and makin her feel dat way just to get in her pants, at 18 yrs old you already know right from wrong and even probably had sex, the girl she is 14 she will beleive everything she hears especially if what she hears is sweet words comin out of an 18 yr old perve

BESIDES IF HE RESPECTED HER HE WOULD RESPECT THE FACT THAT SHE IS 14 AND STILL A TEENAGER, AND WOULD BACK OF.

I think there is something wrong with her parents. He is too experienced for her. There is something wrong with an 18 year old guy who wants to spend time with a 14 girl. She may be absolutely beautiful but she just isn't anywhere near him in experience. So I can only assume he cannot find an 18 year old girl to go out with him or he enjoys seeming so much smarter than her. And for those that don't understand, there are laws to protect the innocent.

Eh... its a touch subject. They probably shouldnt be having sex or having a physical relationship. No 14 year old wants a kid.

But also consider, many adults are over 4 years apart and married. So, down the line, age isnt really an issue.

If theyre in love, wait a few years.

I think an 18 yr old is too mature for a 14 yr old. Especially because they are so young. When she is 18, she will think it is so gross of the guy to want to be w/a 14 yr old. But she is 14, so she is stoked she got an 18 yr old's attention. She will learn things the hard way.

I think that every thing is okay
in my opion girls should date guys older than them because we all know girls mature faster than guys
..and the two ppl will be at the same level!
now..sence there is a 3 yr difference and he is 18
i would say talk to the parents about this one!
because there are problems that can start up! :/

I think it's inappropriate at this point in life. That age difference will be fine when your friend is 17 or 18 and the guy is 22. But not now.

It's illegal and I don't agree to it. He doesn't pressure her as far as you know. What he does when he is alone with her is a different story. not to mention guys will say crap to scare someone so much that that person will believe that everything is ok and it really isn't. I mean as far as the age difference..now it is an issue but when she is 18 that is fine.
