Do you really think it is possible that the hell that hard core christians believe in really exists?

I am not trying to say they are right, but do you think a loving and accepting god could punish people over 70-80 years worth of sins for eternity?

I have trouble believing that actually.

I have trouble believing in the concept of hell also. I don't have the answers for the afterlife, but it doesn't scare me. I think I'd be much more depressed if I had to believe in a God that would be so vindictive. Whatever comes next, if anything at all, will likely be a progression of where we are now. I don't think it will last eternally, there will be an end to the next stage too and then a new progression. Or there may just be nothing at all. Either way, it will be more hopeful than a petty god who will punish a lifetime of sin with hell for eternity.

Yes, it scares me, a little.. well, call it making me anxious, really. But worrying over it does nothing. If I focus on that, then I don't get anything done here and now. And I agree with you on that second part. Christians and Catholics, etc, all preach about how loving, kind, and understanding there god is, but if you don't fall in line with thier beliefs, and do exactly what he says, your banished for all eternity to burn forever? Seems like a paradox to me. Either he's a ****** up, self-important *** of a god, or he'll understand that we're a little cautious and do things a little differently.

And to the girl below me: if god is so loving, why is he so cruel with his punishment for our not believing what his seemingly self-important followers tried to cram down our throats. That would put anyone off.

in the previous you have been born you have been already a void, no longer something exchange into present day. comparable is dying without desire. i'll evade faith, yet as an atheist, how do you think of each thing got here approximately? have you ever watched the PBS classes on birds? Do you think of that they only got here approximately and that they developed to have some very unique and delicate residences that guy can no longer even come on the part of imitating? What with reference to the 1st human beings, do you think of they're swinging from vines with a tail like a monkey? if so, what archives are you utilizing that exhibits them that way? have you ever observed that animals do no longer think of like people, nor do they think of they have greater of a desire as quickly as they're lifeless. people on the different hand seem for solutions to lead them to stay longer, keeping off dying in the event that they might. Why? What in evolution makes this selection come out? i comprehend finding at worldwide circumstances and the loopy ideologies of Christendom make it no longer trouble-free to have self belief in God. yet whilst no longer, the place did we come from? What began all of it? a huge bang is going to tear issues aside no longer placed issues at the same time. evaluate the prospect that God exists and there's a reason issues are the way they're. Then seem up Psalm 37:29. in certainty study the completed financial ruin, you are going to be able to like what it factors to. Neither heaven nor hell.

God judges us on not only our actions but also on our desires. He wants us to seek him out. When he hear of eternal punishment we automatically suppose God will have no mercy forever. The Lord said "..I am endless and the punishment which is given from my hand is endless punishmen, for Endless is my name. Wherfore Eternal Punishment is God's punishment. Endless punishment is God's punishment." So God will determine the severities and lengths of punishment. Eternal punishment mainly means he will decide because Endless is his name. If we repent and come into him in this life and change our sinful ways we won't have as much to worry about in the after life.

I do know what the after life is all about, and so would you if you would study the Scriptures. Hell, indeed, exists! Hell is a place. Hell is eternal separation from the 'presence' of God! Not being in God's presence and experiencing His great love day in and day out, would be hell. People have freewill and can choose to believe in God or choose not too. Those who choose not to believe, have chosen their fate. They have chosen their punishment. God is a loving God and a God of second-chances. If you come to Him with a penitent heart, He will forgive you of your sins. Sins are not 'saved up'. When God forgives your sins he scatters them as far as the east is from the west. They are gone. His love is unconditional, unlike ours. So, you see, we have a very loving Father who desires that all come to him. God is love. Who wouldn't want to spend eternity surrounded by such great and wonderful love?

It sounds like bull to me too.

Several years ago I had an unusual experience concerning an uncle, a distant relative who lived over a thousand miles away.

While driving my car I suddenly felt the unmistakable presence of this relative that I hardly even knew. He was more like someone I had heard about than someone I knew. It was very strange; it felt as though I was momentarily lifted right out of my physical body. I seemed to be suspended somehow beyond space and time, bathed in a love so intense It felt like I could have just disappear into it at any moment if It would have let me. It only lasted for a few seconds, but it seemed to last forever at the same time. I realize how crazy this must sound. The experience was so strong that at first I was afraid I was loosing my grip on reality. I finally managed to chalk it up to an over active imagination.

Three days later I got a call from my aunt telling me that this uncle we are talking about had gone into a coma and died the day I had the experience. It felt like ice water had been poured down my back when she told me this. I had lost any real ideas of God or faith and had become somewhat of an atheist. Needless to say this experience caused me to rethink some of the conclusions I had come to.

I feel blessed to now understand that even in our darkest confusion something loves us so much that it went out of its way to assist me and bring me back to a state of absolute certainty about Gods love for us.
During the experience it seemed like there was a vast amount of information that I was somehow allowed access to. One thing that I came away from this experience understanding beyond any shadow of a doubt was that any Idea that God is unhappy with us or would judge or allow us to be punished for any reason is simply impossible.

I can’t explain the love I felt with words. They simply don’t make words big enough or complete enough to do this. The only way I can begin to convey this love to you is to say that there was simply nothing else there. Nothing but love. No hint of judgment, no displeasure of any sort. It is as though God sees us as being as perfect as we were the day we were created. It is only in our confused idea of ourselves that we seem to have changed.

I hope this is of some help to you. Good luck. Love and blessings.

Your brother don

The bible tells us exactly what the ' afterlife' is.

there are two types.

One for the anointed in heaven.

(REVELATION 20:4) And I saw thrones, and there were those who sat down on them, and power of judging was given them. Yes, I saw the souls of those executed with the ax for the witness they bore to Jesus and for speaking about God, and those who had worshiped neither the wild beast nor its image and who had not received the mark upon their forehead and upon their hand. And they came to life and ruled as kings with the Christ for a thousand years.

And a fleshly one for the righteous...on the earth.
(PSALM 37:9) For evildoers themselves will be cut off, But those hoping in Jehovah are the ones that will possess the earth.

(PSALM 37:11) But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.

(PSALM 37:29) The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it.

(PSALM 37:34) Hope in Jehovah and keep his way, And he will exalt you to take possession of the earth. When the wicked ones are cut off, you will see [it].

Clear as crystal, it only people will remove their blinkers.

I'm absolutely sure of my salvation in Christ when I die. So I don't have any fear.

God sent His Son for every one of us to believe. They choose their destiny, not God. He gave them a path to heaven.
