Amtrak would certainly NEED a new name to attain NATIONAL success... it's reputation across the midwest and west BITES !!
Maybe with the correct corporate sponsorship we'll call it:
iRail (Sony)
McTrain (McDonalds)
MacTrain (Apple)
TrainSim 5.0 (Microsoft)
GatesRail (if Bill Gates himself sponsors)
I think the way to ACTUALLY get rail working in the USA is turn it back over to PRIVATE / Public ownership... and let them reinstate the GOOD old names !!

For Amtrak to be truly successful the US Government would have to stop subsiding the airline industry.
Yes service is a problem on Amtrak, but it is a problem on the airlines as well. Given some time and proper investment. (not nickel and dime year to year) Amtrak could be great.
Then I think you could still call it Amtrak.

Mother in law rode amtrack a few years ago, wallet was taken out of her purse by her seatmate. MIL was asleep at the time. Her seatmate detrained same location. She told train conductor b4 she got off. Conductor call local police. Police said was not in jurisdiction, to call rail police. Nearest rail police? 600 miles away!!! They both would have to wait at the terminal until RP got there (voluntarily, mind you) thief just walked away free....
