During vacation I (hopefully) got rid of the lice. I really want to know if the lice and eggs are still alive in my house.

Did you spray a lice killer on everything or at least vacuum all fabric surfaces? If not then chances are they are still there.

Adult lice have a life span of about 4 weeks and they lay eggs that take some time to hatch. Pubic lice an head lice of different lifespans and treatments so I won't ask what kind you had but ridding yourself of them is a little different in each case.

Make sure ALL of your clothes and bedsheets and towels are washed in hot, soapy water and dried in a hot dryer (don't ruin your good clothes though) Spray mattresses with RID and that goes for everyone in the house and every ones head should be checked. All stuffed animals should be places in a sealed black garbage bags for a month and vacuumed when taken out. Throw away all brushes.

Good luck!!

Think you had better get a treatment to rid the house of lice. They are probably waiting for you to return.

yes the entire house needs to be bug bombed. all combs brushes etc need delouse spray, your blanket sheets clothing need to be washed in hot water and dried on hot.
you also should buy new pillows and spray your bedding, sofas, chairs with delouse spray.
those nasty things can live a long time with out a host.
