In the Bible we are told several times that we are granted spiritual gifts through the Holy Spirit. One of these gifts could be considered prophecy. However, Hebrews says that God talks to us through His Son. So, how do you believe God talks to us? Do you think that God gives certain people the gift of prophecy, or does He communicate with us through His Son and the Holy Spirt? Or maybe even a combination of both?
Just wondering about your personal opinion here.

Hebrews 1:1 - Hebrews 1:4
1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; 3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself[a] purged our[b] sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

When I have questions I meditate on them. Answers come from somewhere but I can't actually say that I think that it is God answering.
Once I ask about the idea that we are all one with God and this is what came.
I am the ocean, you are the raindrops. We are the same. You raindrops, because of your similar size and location, see yourselves as separate, as units, as individuals. This perception of your selves has been your only reality since you were born in the clouds. You have no other perspective of your selves. As you fall through your short lives here, you see the ocean far below. On a certain level you understand that it and you are one and the same. You envy its magnificence. The thought comes,” I am water too, am I not also part of this magnificence?” Then you realize that you are but an insignificant raindrop. You can only look at that distant ocean in awe. The ocean with its timeless knowledge sees you quite differently. It sees you for what you really are. Its most precious children, bravely returning home to share the experience that ocean as a whole could never have experienced. The ocean has nothing but love for you. Because it understands that it is you, and that you are it. It knows only truth. Until the moment you reunite you can only speculate. The ocean's love for you is unconditional. It holds no foolish thought of punishing you for not falling quite right. It only waits with great patience for your homecoming.
The tiny collisions you had with the other drops on the way down, at the time seemed so significant. Often you feared that if you mingled with them too long you might get to close and in the process even lose your identity. All this because you understood your true identity not! You are ocean, you always were ocean, you always will be ocean. How you currently perceive yourself raindrop, snow flake, puddle, stream, River, or lake matters not. This is all illusion, only perception. You are ocean, you are spirit. You and I are one; we are the All That Is!
Love and blessings Don

God the Father and His son, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost are three separate and distinct beings with one purpose, the salvation of mankind.
Christ called and ordained 12 Apostles to preach what he taught them and promised to, after he ascended to Father in heaven, send the Holy Ghost to teach them all things and bring all things to there remembrance whatsoever Christ had taught them. John 14:26(kjv)
the Holy Ghost is the spirit of truth and cannot lie.
Yes, we are granted spiritual gifts through the ministration of the Holy Ghost.
What are the fruits of the Spirit? Galatians 5:22-23(kjv)
by this we know the Holy Ghost is present.
All may have the gift of Prophecy within there own sphere of responsibility. A father and husband may recieve revelation for his own family if he is worthy to receive it but he may not receive prophecy or revelation for his community or for the world.
God's house is a house of order, not of chaos.
And then these gifts are reserved for those who keep the commandments and ordinances of God and repent of their sins and have faith on the Lord, Jesus Christ.
Anything else that is not under the Priesthood Authority of God given through his Son, Jesus Christ is of no effect and is a deception of Satan, such as with Pharo's Priests imitating Moses who was ordained under the hands of Jethro to this same priesthood and called to be a Prophet to the house of Israel.
All the gifts of the Holy Spirit/Holy Ghost are found only within the Church of Jesus Christ and under the Authority of the Priesthood.
That isn't opinion, it is fact.
If Christians were led by modern day revelation through called and ordained and living Prophets and Apostles of God then this question would be easy to answer In fact you will find the "easy" button at the end of this message for your answer.
Thank you for the question.

Through His Spirit:
John 15
26 "When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me. 27 And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning."
John 16
7 "But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
8 When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me;
10 in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11 and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned."
Through those who bring the word of God through His gifts:
Ephesians 4
11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,
His word:
2 Peter 1
19 Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place—until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your hearts. 20 Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, 21 or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.

He speaks to us through his Spirit because if you go back to book of john when Jesus was leaving he told the disciples that he had to leave in order for the Holy Spirit to come to them, Jesus said he ( Holy spirit )will convict us in matters of sin, judgement and righteousness. He speaks to us everytime but there are times through sin or hardness we silence him, pray to God so he can help you be sensitive to his Spirit always.cheers

God speaks through His Word, through the Holy Spirit speaking to our "hearts", and yes, even through prophesy.
God does give people "gifts of the Spirit" that are to be used to teach, heal and edify people, in my opinion....Blessings!

The Holy Ghost is how our Father in Heaven speaks to each of us INDIVIDUALLY. If he needed to give direction to everyone, he would do that through a prophet as he always has.

The spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord, Searching all the inner depths of his heart. (Prov. 20:27). Basically, God enlightens us in our spirit, and we have to be quiet and still in order to hear Him. God also speaks to us through His Word (The Bible)
