I will say the first 5 weeks is pretty tough. The last week is pretty easy. It has changed though. We had to do alot of "attention to detail" things, like folding all your shirts to perfect 6 inch squares, and ensure that the spacing on the hangers in your wall locker was perfect. This was used to instill discipline and attention to detail. Now they do alot more things geared towards field training, and they carry M16s from day one. That is just basic training, depending on your AFSC, your tech school may be more rigorous than BMT was.

And to those people talking crap about the AF... Yeah, AF BMT is only 6 1/2 weeks long (for now), but that is all I ever hear from other branches, is that we have a shorter basic training. All you guys talk up that you went to boot camp for 13 weeks and because you did that you are a certified bad ***. Don't get me wrong, 13 weeks of boot camp would be hell, but the role of the AF is completely different than any other service. Our mission is to dominate the skies, and to dominate the skies we need to have the best aircraft inventory. To have the best aircraft inventory we need to have the best people to design/test and maintain those aircraft. We also need the best people to support the role of our aircraft (ground jobs, C-E, Comm, Security Forces, etc.) to ensure they can do their jobs and dominate the skies. Doing most of this doesn't involve the most braun, but it does involve the most brains... In the AF we get to think to ourselves occasionally... Not because the AF lacks discipline, but because the AF wants people who can think for themselves and get a job done without a higher ranking person holding their hand.

And to those who talk about deployments, the AF deploys more consistently than any other branch because of our AEF concept. We deploy for 4 month rotations every 20 months. So, we deploy for 4 months, wait 16 months, then do it all over again.

The first three weeks are the toughest. Mainly because you're new, and they throw all this stuff at you that you must accomplish to graduate. It is pretty tough because it is short. Only six weeks to pass the tasks they put before you. It is also such a mental mind game, and they screw with your head a lot. I don't know what that one guy was talking about that wrote in? There is no such thing as stress cards. It's funny that most people that are saying it is such a cake walk aren't even in the AF. Just because they went through a longer basic training doesn't mean it was tougher.

It's not even half as long as Marine boot camp, and you don't have to know 1/2 of the stuff they do. Good enough answer? Just think, when you want to join the military, everyone tells you to go Air Force. Why? Because it's what everyone who wants to say they're in the military, but doesn't want it to the extremes of the Army/Marines. Most of my family is retired USAF. They all did their 20 years, and they all say it was easy. 3 of these people were women.

Never as no such thing exists. Now if you mean USAF Basic Military Training then it is hard for the first 5 weeks. Last week is cake.

I'm so glad people who have never been in or are basing their opinions off of people in other branches are answering like they know what they are talking about. Just because Marine Boot is hardER does not mean the USAF BMT is easy.

It's amazing that your cousin is a TSgt and Stationed in Saudi, where we haven't been allowed in about 4 years. Thanks for playing.

The first three weeks I think were the hardest...the first week, it was like WTH? My TI yelled so loud I couldn't understand half of what she said...they were talking about stuff I never heard of, etc. They had to cut down more trees to make new 341s for me! but somewhere around the third week stuff started making sense, my flight started to pull together and people who "got it" helped the ones who didn't. I was a terrible marcher but I could make a bed tight enough you could bounce a quarter off of it. Some girls helped me stop bobbing (at least not so much) and I helped make some beds.

Comparing Air Force Basic to Army Basic: The Army was more physical. The Air Force was more mental.

Air Force Basic is not a cake walk. It is not easy. It is a constant mental attack intended to reshape you into a thinking person. Attention to detail is very important. Air Force Basic Training is indeed that; it is the basic training that you need to prepare you for further schooling.

Having been thru Army and Air Force basic, I can make the comparison. I have no idea of Marine or Navy Boot.

It wasn't difficult for me, but then again my parents made sure I was disciplined BEFORE I enlisted.

Life is hard, it's harder on the stupid, undisciplined people.

Several Airmen have told me that you fold clothes for at least six hours out of the day. I would personally hate that.

Maybe tests you have to take may be kinda hard but other than that Air Force basic training is a slice of cake! Easy easy easy.
