Here is a teency-weency example:

John 1:12
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
(KJV)

In the context of the rest of the New Testament and with the grammer used in the verse above it is clear that there are people who are not the children of God. This is why the phrase, "power to become the sons of God' is used.

They are not the sons of God, but they can become the sons of God.

Lightning14 and all others -- can any of you show a verse from the Bible that teaches that we are all God's Children? God talks about two spiritual families, differenct children, sheep & goats, wheat & tares, cursed and blessed, righteous and wicked, condemned and saved, going to heaven and going to hell.

God never refers to people as "All His Children".

From Adam we are all God's Creation.
Through Adam we are all part of the Human Race and are bloood-brothers and sisters.
Without the 2nd Adam, we have no spiritual relation.

Psalms 82:6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.

Acts 17:28 For in him we alive, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.

Job 38:7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

I don't know which Version of the Bible you are Reading, but the ones that I have read have always stated that we are All brothers and Sisters due to the Beginning of Adam and Eve. The ones that have read also say that God Created All of the Creatures on the Earth. People are Creatures of God's Creation and therefore " ALL God's Children".

Well the bible (Genesis) also mentions that the "sons of god knew the daughters of men", so obviously that phrase can be used many different ways.

The bible does not "teach the exact opposite", as you suggest, nor is the passage you quoted "clear" (as you can see from my above example). The bible may not teach that "we are all god's children", but neither does it say we are not.
You are simply giving that verse more meaning than it intends.

The Bible says that the Children of Israel are His children.
Exodus 4:22-23 "Thus says YHWH, 'Israel is my first-born son,' "Let my son go that he may serve me"; if you refuse then I will slay your first born son."
People(and other religions), say that to make them feel better, but nowhere in the bible does it say "We are all God's children"
In Psalms a man called Asaph said that in his song, but he is not God.
In the bible a quute from God begins with the saying " Thus says the Lord"
anything else is man's invention.
Also in Genesis the "Son's of God" thought that the daughters of man were fair to look upon, so who were they?
Human Beings

It doesn't teach the exact opposite! Jesus went to the cross for 'all people'___ therefore, He considered all people His children. The problem is, some of God's created ones have chosen not to accept him as their Lord and Savior.... They have freewill. The ones that have chosen or will choose to accept Him as Lord of their life, are called "God's children."

Do you have a bible verse to post in reference to your question? If not, well, read my reply below - ty

Many people misinterpret that. The phrase 'God's children' refers to those who are saved through Christ Jesus; those that follow and abide by God's word. Those who are without Christ are children of the world.

A child cannot be created out of nothing. If humans are children of God then humans are Gods. That is the true definition.

I'm not sure...but I agree with you.
Rom. 9:8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

Christ himself told the sons of Abraham they were the children of their father the devil... Did he mean they were also the children of God?
It is through Christ we can become the children of God.

I don't know what bible you read from, but mine teaches me that we are in fact all God's children. He has given each of us a gift and what we chose to do with it is up to us. The old laws of the old testament were all done away with by the new covenant that was signed by the blood of Christ on the cross. God bless
