It doesn't sound like you should be getting a kitten. There are a lot of other costs associated with having a cat - are you prepared to pay for:
Food - $20 - $30/month
Litter - $20/month
Litter Box $10 - $30
Food bowls - $5+
Vet Bills:
Shots/Vaccinations: approximately $100 for the first year; plan on paying $50 or so every year after that, plus the vet visit fee (can be $50 or more)
Spaying/Neutering (you must do this or your male cat will pee all over your house, your female cat will go into heat and walk around WAILING at all hours, and you'll end up with more kittens, which mean more expenses): $50 - $120, (cheaper for neuters, but depends on the vet)
Emergency care - kittens WILL get sick and will need to go to the vet (just like little kids get sick and need to go to the doctor) - plan on at least $200 - $300 in miscellaneous vet fees, medicine, deworming, etc in the first year. Could be more. As they get older, it should be cheaper, but you never know when your cat might get sick.

If I add up just the LOW numbers of these estimates, I get $905 required for pet care for 1 year. If you don't have $70, how are you going to pay for all this other stuff? do you have $905?

I know it sucks to hear, but honestly you can't afford a cat if you can't afford 70$.

Cats NEED dewormings (especially kittens, every two weeks for awhile), shots, etc. from the vet. Kittens especially need more vet visits. Just the initial visit to the vet to get your kittens checked out and dewormed and healthy costs more than what you need to scrounge up to buy them in the first place.

Food, litter, toys, etc also can add up every month.

I'm not trying to be mean and say you shouldn't have a cat, but it would suck to save up to get a little friend that you love and then realize you cant take care of it when they're puking up worms and losing fur.and end up having to give it up. :[

Why are you paying for kittens when there are so many shelters that have them for 5-15 and they need homes? Maybe you might want to investigate the humane shelter or non-kill shelters and make a new home for a new kitten to be saved.

I would suggest selling something on ebay and trying to gain the funds that way. There's always the old way...go ask your parents for it.

Don't pay for a kitten. If you go to your local animal shelter chances are there are many kittens there looking for a home. Usually you do not have to pay to adopt from a shelter.

If you are asking this question you can not afford the kittens now or later. Think about what you are doing before these animals suffer.

Babysit. Do those internet surveys. Get a job. Hold a hot cocoa stand. Do one of those home businesses. I dunno.

Uh.. the other answerer had a point. What are you going to do if the kitty gets sick.
