In America, I think the name Kimi is just a pet form (or diminuitive form) of Kimberly. I've known a couple girls before who had the name.

Kimberly is an Old English name possiby meaning "Cyneburg's field" named after St. Cyneburg (pronounced Kew-nuh-burg) whose name means "Royal Fortress" in Old English.

St. Cyneburg (also known as Lady Connyburrow) was a seventh century English female saint who headed a monastery in northern England for a while.
